Anyone ever noticed that Opera browser decreases speed significantly?

That's quite a bit above what I usually get too, using Opera I usually only get about 1.6 Mbps.

I would use a larger test file but I can't get a bigger one using Opera, it's too slow.

Actually Opera is the fastest for me - and a browser called k-meleon is also faster then IE(UGH) or FF

I think it depends on how quick your system is and what ad blockers and firewalls are running

It is fast and has tabbed browsing and a nice look  - give it a shot - its free and has been around for a long time - actually it and FF  are about =

I use it now and then just for a change

opera isnt the best. using opera and using this site, pages looks weird. i'll stick with ff. anyways opera isnt free. $29.00 to take out the banner. free with the banner. www.opera.com

Whether (insert name of browser) is the "best" is open for argument. I say no browser is 100% better than the others. Each has it own good and not so good things about it.

I personally prefer Firefox. BTW, yes Opera is now free. I never understood why someone would want to pay for a browser when all of the others are free.

In the not too distant past - 4 or 5 years ago Opera was without a doubt the best browser and well worth the money (they got plenty of subscribers), now as you say each has there good points and bad points and with FF getting much more stable, Opera was forced to go free. It and FF still make IE look like it was done by people striving for something less then mediocity. I will not say idiots developed IE as that would be an insult to idiots, but that is how I feel!!
