just- Posted December 8, 2005 CID Share Posted December 8, 2005 computer scientists and network engineers led by the California Institute of Technology transferred physics data at a rate of over 150 gigabits per second--equivalent to downloading over 130 DVD movies in one minute. read more at http://www.fnal.gov/pub/presspass/press_releases/network_prize_release.html but that was using multiple fiber are u asking for the single fastest speed using one fiber and what type of fiber are u talking about
nhoughtaling Posted December 8, 2005 Author CID Share Posted December 8, 2005 im talking just single mode fiber, like the fiber the phone companies are using for this fiber to the premise or what about the stuff they have at schools.... richcornucopia Posted December 9, 2005 CID Share Posted December 9, 2005 I'm pretty sure they aren't going to give you everything they have. A provider like the verizon the best you can get is 30/5. Fiber can handle more than this and in the future speeds will get faster.
nhoughtaling Posted December 9, 2005 Author CID Share Posted December 9, 2005 Right!!! I know that SBC is telling me after the first they are going to give there users 25down and 15 up... not sure what to do with all those speeds but it would be cool braging rights...
