water Posted December 10, 2005 CID Share Posted December 10, 2005 It's about time. Sony was abhorantly in the wrong on this one. To make my personal PC a tool of theirs *mutters* ... it's like theivery. They were forcing their will onto my personal property.
resopalrabotnick Posted December 10, 2005 CID Share Posted December 10, 2005 just wait. they are re-evaluating. that means the next version will scan the disk for hashes from p2p networks and delete the files that sony bmg has rights to. it will collect the ip's of comps connected to your comp that are dl'ing these files from you. they will come after you and them. thieves beware! edit: and it will turn any comps it comes in contact with into a botnet to ddos p2p nets and sites. RTB Posted December 10, 2005 CID Share Posted December 10, 2005 I doubt Sony learned from this mistake.
resopalrabotnick Posted December 10, 2005 CID Share Posted December 10, 2005 of course they did. they learned to hide whatever they piggyback on their cds and dvds better.
RTB Posted December 10, 2005 CID Share Posted December 10, 2005 That may be, but now that more people are aware of their intents, even those better concealed programs will be found earlier. I doubt Sony learned that rootkit-like programs are not the way to 'protect' copyright.
