resopalrabotnick Posted December 16, 2005 CID Share Posted December 16, 2005 how many ethernet ports does your modem have?
oirdec88 Posted December 17, 2005 Author CID Share Posted December 17, 2005 my modem has 1 ethernet port, my isp is qwest, and the modem type is a GT701-WG. the 192.168.0.1 ip address is the gateway to it i guess. I dont use ethernet because there is a problem and it doesnt assign the ethernet connection and ip address, so i just use USB

FallowEarth Posted December 17, 2005 CID Share Posted December 17, 2005 Yeah, that's odd that the ethernet light stays on with no cable hooked up. What is this Actiontec Gateway #2 getting the 192.168 IP? Have you tried disabling it from the device manager? Make sure that you have your ethernet cable hooked directly into the modem, and that there is no USB cable attached to the modem and powercycle it by removing the power for about 1 min, then returning the power and then restart the PC.
