I found out why it's so slow...since my school is a community school they share there connection with all the Community schools in Conn. (7 or more schools)

didn't know that......learn something new everyday..... today I learn 1) TacoBell and Monster Energy don't mix well. 2) GAS WENT UP AGAIN 3) No post additions in Off topics

I should be getting the 16000/2000 extreme package from Adelphia soon...when they call me...I call like 3 times a week to see what they are doing..Im hoping that if I piss them off enough they will just set it up for me just to shut me up

Almost every ISP will have different packages that they sell. Comcast has a basic package for a certain emount of money. If you want more speed they will sell you more and charge you more money 3/256 (this maybe the basic package) this a 3Mbps down and 256Kbps up 6/384 (6Mbps down and 384Kbps up) 8/750 (8Mbps down and 750Kbps up) NOTE: I don't have comcast so I don't know the plans...this was just to explain to you what the those numbers mean.

Most likely but I would at least call them up to see...DSL is supose to be really close to the advertisment speeds. Well it doesn't really matter anyways because thats pretty good DSL speeds..

You think that was bad...my high school is a state school and they use T1 lines that shares with EVERY state high school in Conn....no matter what time it was...my speeds were really slow...it didn't matter anyway every site was block....I think even google was block because of the image search...thank god Im in college now...love the fiber connection there

Just get a Router...that is a hardware firewall and it wont slow down your internet if you get the right one..(stay away from D-Link)

There is no way that speed is bad unless you suppose to get more then that

lets say you do tweak it....you wont be able to see a major difference since you are already that fast..

If it is DSL then you have to use PPPoE......I never heard of a different connection then that.

My connection stays between 5Mbps to 5.7Mbps....the only time I get under that when some dumb ass crashes into a telephone poll

Yep...to tell you the truth I just formatted my system...and I have Van's version 9 cablenut settings...even he couldn't get my connection higher then 6Mbps.

Why would you do that.......It wont protect your computer any better.

The only way to stop or really slow down from people sharing files online is to shut down the internet...and how can do that?

It is nice when that happens...too bad it doesn't stay.. Something like that happen to me once....I had a 9Mbps connection for uhm about 30 mins then it went back to 5.4Mbps...thats a tease and I want it again
