tripping over cables and pulling plugs. it could be anything from someone damaging their lines with construction equipment to them rearranging kit in their place, which would also make a shutdown neccessary. -
see if there isn't one already made in the templates. otherwise use the available shapes and arrange them as needed, putting the words in as captions

prolly better off using powerpoint...

there's only one online shooting game i would sign up for. remember when that hunting farm decided to let people use a robotic gun turret via the internet to hunt? well someone suggested putting those things in towns in pakistan and afghanistan to hunt bin laden... i'd sign up for that, if i got to collect the bounty for the kill...

to bounce the casual port scan just set your router to block them and not even reply to them or react in any other way. that makes it look like the ip they are scanning is inactive. best way to be is not even there. those portscans are usually after trojans, backdoors and other little bastards already running on a system that has been infected at some point. they will check either those ports known to be used by certain infections or just scan everything to see if anything is open and will allow them to get a foot in the door. keep in mind that even if a port is open it doesn't mean someone can take over the computer. more thngs have to happen for that to take place. as for zapping back, it's problematic. say they are spoofing a DoD addy. what are you going to do, zap back at a DoD server? that sounds like something very complicated to explain to the FBI when they come around to see just what in blue blazes you are trying to do. and even if you manage to get back at the bastards probing you who's to say that they won't log your attack on them and report you to the authorities. it /is/ illegal to do stuff like that. sure, you can tell the judge that they attacked you first, but two wrongs don't make a right. best case is you end up sharing a cell with the original attacker and bubba. stealth your system, put a good firewall behind that and watch 'em bounce off. you don't go jumping around on every fly that hits your cars windshield either, right?

pretty much stand on the clutch and brake pulling up on the wheel to depress the pedals, lol. and that was before digicams so no pics... as for the method of just holding it on a hill with the clutch and gas, i've had several people do that here in puerto rico. each one of em almost managed to let it roll into me. the correct way is to set your parking brake. when you get ready to go release the brake so you're just holding it with your hand, let out clutch and give it some throttle till you feel it pulling against the brake and let the brake off. (this maneuver gets a lot more interesting if you have a ford truck or a mercedes (some others do as well) that has the parking brake as a foot pedal with a release like a hood release.) one option, ask around at the drivers ed places in your area, they might have a manual car there, see how much they will charge for an hour or two of driving instruction.

interesting. so 401k (coincidence? lol) is 18.34% of average. that means the average is 2186k. whoot. and creepingdeath. does it seriously surprise you to see shit like this in puerto rico? i am so fed up with it. but runing at windmills does no good here either. if anyone feels like wasting their time with daco, fine. i'm not even gonna try. i'm gonna follow acevedo's attempts to tell people status is no issue. none at all while laughing at the teachers unions attempt to keep 950 non-accreditet teachers from getting fired. btw, puerto rico binds are 2 notches away from being rated junk bonds on both rating standards. whoot! while the national park chief admin gets fired for saying he is out of money. whoot! i swear, i'm actually happy that while the damned thing has slowed down i can at least usually work faster than with dialup and the connection is at least more stable than the dsl crap i used to have here. i hope it gets fixed, but i am expecting nada. -
if you live in a rural or at least semirural place see if a farmer has an old tractor he'll teach you on. it's winter, so he won't have much to do in the fields and a case of beer or whatever will brighten his day. (plus an old tractor doesn't have that fancy schmancy synchronized tranny. you'll learn how to doubleclutch to match rpm's as well.) i learned to drive a stick when i was six years old on an old john deer. 16-speed transmission. 12 forward 4 reverse. two shifters. one r-1-2-3 one 1-2-3-4 to split the first one. and you better match the tranny to the motor when you shift or all it would do is grind. hard. kick the shifter right out of your hand. (if you're a 6-year old anyhow. ) as for auto or stick... stick is fun, but i find it tedious after a while. especially in stop and go traffic. and modern auto trannies are just as good as a stick performancewise and probably better mileagewise since they shift 'smarter' than a normal driver in everyday conditions. yes, yes, yes, you can do better than an auto with a stick, but it's just too damned much trouble for the small improvement.

it's garbage and the routing goes through miami, iirc even dallas. compared the results to testmy. huge differences. -
here in pr there is current;y a big tiff going on over some teachers. a previous administration allowed 950 or so teachers to teach without proper accreditation. the current administration is deciding that they are going to kick them out. now the teachers union wants legislation passed in the local senate to not fire those teachers. the ones WITHOUT accreditation to teach, can't think of a single reason to not fire em...

there are a few. but the other cable provider has problems too (from what i have heard, granted, it was only from 2 customers) and the dsl isn't all that great either. the local telco's dsl is bad, their service is bad, their phone techs don't know squat, and it is basically the same as any other service here in pr, they shaft the customers as much as possible. now with the adelphia -> onelink transition one can only hope they get it rectified soon. on another note, i wonder if it isn't adelphia us that is blockingh the torrents/p2p and supposedly gaming ports. i don't think that there is any blocking of gaming going on at all though, the connection is just so laggy that it's impossible to play decently. -

imnsho they blocked p2p and torrents because the majority of the people using it use it to steal copyrighted material. geeks that want to dl the latest linux distros with a torrent are just sol, but then they are sol due to their choice of os anyhow. i agree that it sucks that to prevent illegal downloading all torrenting and p2p hs to be killed, but that's the way it is. thanks again, all you thieves out there. -
haven't you ever heard the term pineapple grenade? :haha: this happened in germany, another case of stupid teacher. the textbook had a picture of a swamp captioned with "the california everglades". i point out to the teacher that i am fairly sure i was in florida when i toured the everglades. not several thousand miles away in california. "well, maybe they have everglades in california too.". yes. this was the geography teacher.

at least as a skins fan i can draw some satisfaction from the fact that the damned seahawks lost. btw, break.com has the super bowl ads if you want to see one again.

it's not the fact that management isn't pushing the employees. i bet the friendliness of the helpdesk has taken a dive because a) everyone is getting the shaft from management because they are not getting the transition done smoothly, in spite of the planning having been apparently a joke and they are getting the shaft from the customers because they have to work out how to fix it fast because management dropped the ball. i have been in a position where i had to scramble to unfuck the mess management created and it is not a fun place to be. you are all the company the customer gets to see, so naturally he bitches at you while management complains about the number of problems cropping up. -

well, robocop. since yopu already accused me of flaming i will now address a flame to you. you call me not 100% puerto rican. damned right. and if in your eyes i have to be 100% puerto rican i have to do silly things like protest against the navy (which was one of the few remaining reasons the US has to pump money into this place), put up with laughable utilities and horrible roads, kick and scream when the fbi finally decides to take out a leftwingnut terrorist, try to keep the island a commonwealth to enjoy free shit from the states instead of grabbing the chance and pushing for statehood to get most of the free stuff they already give along with an actual vote in the congress and senate instead of some resident commissioner that can do no more than beg, accept a governor that says that noone in the US is interested in doing something about the status issue (which is major league bullshit, since all the representatives and senators would gladly have a slice of the billions of dollars pumped here every year, so giving the island independence and letting it turn into another banana republic just like so many islands around it appeals to them. the only caveat would be the millions of puerto ricans moving to the states if that happens.), accepting a school system that sucks and doesn't teach english because of some deluded opinion on that destroying the cultural identity etc. etc. etc. then yeah, i'm damned glad not to be 100% puerto rican. daco is a joke. it is so by law. a car dealer refuses to repair a lemon. he gets fined. he gets fined exactly 50 bucks. i wonder if he gives a shit. even if daco fines onelink, the cost of the fine as opposed to the cost of doing anything about the reason for the fine beyond what they are already doing is laughable. the transition was poorly planned and executed badly. like most things here. i'll just wait till whenever their manana is. -

first, under the terms of use it says no illegal shit. most torrent/p2p falls under that, so what's the problem. (and don'[t start crying about how you need to download at least 3 linux distros daily to get your fix. if you use linux half the time the machine is messed up or recompiling some crap so you can't use the net anyhow) second, the online gaming thing is interesting. that will be something to keep an eye on. third, why are they being so rude? probably because they are acting like any other company and especially any other public service provider in puerto rico. they overcharge, the service sucks, and customers that demand a fix get barked at. third, maybe the techs are also just as fed up with the decisions management has made, the planning mistakes management has made and are taking it out on the customers. i am not happy about the situation either but i also know that the usual runaroundwiththeirheadslodgedfirmlyuptheirfourthpointofcontacttime here is pretty long, so i'm just gonna wait. as for daco achieving anything, dont't make me laugh. even if they do get it together long enough to figure out the problem the fines they can issue are laughable. i know people that will gladly eat the daco fine and keep right on trucking because it's still more profitable to take the fine and carry on than to fix the problem.
