  1. congratulations. you have 20/20 hindsight. wow. if clinton had taken down bin laden, he would have been called evil, warmongering, criminal, etc. for meddling in other countries affairs, proceeding without due process of the law and and and. now that he decided to play by the rules, he is wrong as well. what a surprise. it's like law enforcement. we got the man that did it sounds better than we got the man that would have done it, especially when someone says prove it.
  2. what modem you got? i have the terayon and it's capped at 4mbps down...
  3. nothing worse than a quitter. i don't smoke, never have. both parents did however. so i don't even really smell smoke. used to it. it's hilarious to see former smokers turn into anti smoking nazis themselves just because they quit and now don't like the smell. those people can be soooooo annoying...
  4. whatever you may think of the us and its allies going into iraq and afghanistan, rummyworld is working. all the crazed ragheads (no, not an ethnic or religious slur against muslims, just against the scum that kills for kicks and justifies it with some twisted form of muslim beliefs) are blowing shit up over there instead of here. while it is sad to see allied troops getting hurt it is good to say they are successful in baiting the bastards into staying over there. maybe at some point the population over there will recognize that while having the fanatics blow shit up overseas it's quite a different matter if their corner falafel store gets bombed twice a month just because a few cops frequent it.
  5. not quite. but it was a us ploy. cholla, by your reasoning concerning 9/11, pearl harbor was an attack performed by secret US units. probably the reason why so few units in the regular armed forces had african american members was because they were the ultimate black operations people. the raid on pearl harbor alone would have required quite a few resources to carry out in secrecy. why do such a thing? because roosevelt wanted to go to war in europe and there was no real reason to do so. so an ally of the axis forces conveniently chooses to piss off one of the largest and hitherto neutral countries in the world. how convenient...
  6. first of all, noone is forcing anyone to run vista. secondly, the os hardware requirements are probably not that high. it's all the 3-d, transparent and godknowswhatelse effects, thingies, widgets and sprockets that make the thing so powerhungry. look at xp. with all the animation effects etc on, an older graphics card just dies on you, menus rolling up and down are stop motion animations etc. no need to turn on all the fluff, it will probably work just fine without the eye candy. as for new pcs coming with vista instead of xp, why not. noone needs a 3ghz pc to run a word cpu anyhow, so might as well do something to make the cpu sweat.
  7. while we're on conspiracy theories, i cooked up one of my own. remember the supposed subway bombings in london? well, they were testing a bus and 3 trains with hydrogen power. while britain has good oil supplies they would like to do without as well. seeing this, british petroleum went and sabotaged the trains and the bus, causing them to blow up. causing untold loss of life simply to protect their interests. the reason this didn't come out into the open? the gov'ment doesn't want people to think hs power can be dangerous and they needed a reason to stay in iraq, so they made up the story about the bombers and the h2 part was buried deep in some secret gevernment vault in number 10 downing street. this is completely made up, completely false. however, just try proving that it wasn't so. you can't. proving the nonexistence of something is very difficult. this is why all the scumbags that come up with a twisted plot to sell in their books, blogs, websites and whatnots continue to make a brisk business. there will always be someone willing to believe in evil/corrupt/incompetent government/industry that will pay to read about it. as a comparison, take the jew back in the early 1940's that sat in poland and was sitting in front of his house reading the newest nazi hate rag on jews. "the jews are this, doing that, control the other etc." his buddy asks him why he reads the crap. his reply: "i just like reading how powerful i am.".
  8. hell no! paladin, true, i do put put-downs in my posts. but those are usually personal in nature or ridiculing the persons opinion. i don't go and claim that a person is blindly repeating someone elses opinion. cholla, i hope you were just quoting the threads beginnings and not supporting the theory of government involvment in 9/11. bush /was/ looking for a reason to go into iraq. he never proved iraq/s involvment in 9/11. instead he based his actions on their wmd program. (which has been exported to syria before the midden hit the windmill according to some captured iraqi higher-ups).
  9. reread that post a few times and still think it's off. so just because cableguy shares a political viepoint he gets called the mouthpiece of a polititian you obviously are not enamored with? why does him having a point of view that differs from yours a mindless drone?
  10. congratulations. have a good one.
  11. i've got this serious addiction i just can't seem to break. if i go cold turkey for one or two minutes i completely loose it until i get my next fix. can anyone help me? one guy i talked to said i was dependent on oxygen. how do i kick that habit?
  12. Umm, the deal with the ports is nothing unusual. look around now. the company the uae people would have taken over from is british. and there are a bunch of ports run by companies from many other countries. it's not the countries that would be running the ports, but private enterprises. just like a us company running a us port is just another company. and all they run in any case is the moving of containers etc. the security is in the hands of the coast guard, border patrol, immigrations etc. etc. etc.
  13. all you america haters out there: just sit back and reflect on the fact that america is a free country. there are lots of countries out there where your conspiracy rantings would land you in the slammer or worse. show a little respect for those that fight and die for your freedom once in a while. if you see a serviceman at the local store shake his or her hand or just wish them a good day. personally i think it is disrespectful to say that the poeple that died on those flights really didnt, that they were spirited away while "mind controlled robot bombs" or whatever were used to crash into the buildings.
  14. what i find most entertaining is the way the crackpots, for want of a better term, base their "theories" on the claim that things could not have happened the way they did. one example, the kennedy case. "no way the bullet could have blah, blah, blah....". interestingly enough a tv show managed to recreate the shots fired and the trajectory of the bullets after impact pretty much axactly using replicas of the limo, ballistic dummies and the same model rifle fired from the same angle. (in this case from a slightly shaky cherrypicker platform, making the shot more difficult.) the way the bullet got deflected by the bones and the bodies was exactly what happened in real life. did this do anything to shut the crackpots claiming a firing squad on the grassy knoll up? hardly... oh well. same with 9/11. all the things that are claimed to be faked, wrong, lies etc turn out to have happened in real life. too many points brought up by the crackpots however to debunk them all here, don't feel like writing a book here.
  15. did you see that on cooks.org? it was a special about the space aliens abducting the second gunman from the grassy knoll using black helicopters. pretty neat.
  16. true, but my no nudity rating is based on the fact that even though you see what's going on (both on the screen and under the desk) you don't in fact get to see any of the important bits...
  17. got your attention? good. saw this clip, almost died laughing. and the adult theme is no lie. http://www.break.com/index/roommategay.html
  18. wouldn't an airman 1c be an enlisted, not nco? now i know that the a10 is flown by reserves, not regular air force, but they can't be that desperate for pilots... lolol
  19. ftp://piracy.microsoft.com is good for apps. for movies try ftp://piracy.mpaa.org and music is best sent to ftp://piracy.riaa.org.
  20. alright. i'll bite. here is my standard zero emissions rant. if i need to use a compressor (their airstation) or the engine running on electrical as a compressor to fill the tank, where, pray tell, does the energy for that come from, hm? let me guess, fossil fueled power plants, or maybe nukular power? (where the nuke is cleaner) the emissions are merely moved from the car to the power plant. as for using solar/wind power for power generation, it's not zero emissions either. depending on the tech used up to third to half the useful service life is spent generating the amount of energy used to manufacture the windmill/solar panel. best solar concept i've seen so far is a large mirror used to heat the hot end of a stirling engine for power generaion. long life/relatively low power requirement in manufacturing compared to solar cell. as for cheap power, gimme a dozen burritos, let me ram a hose up my arse and we'll see hoe much we can extend the range of the thing. but i wouldn't use the waste gases for the a/c anymore...
  21. truly. this thred makes me wonder whether or not liquid cooling is worth the trouble compared to a decent air-cooled setup using large diameter fans to lower noise to the levels of a liquid cooled rig. the thought of the heat exchanger on the cpu or gpu springing a leak and blowing water laced with antifreeze and whatnot all over the inside of the case... and i thought the dustbunny colonies in there were enough of a problem.
  22. www.barrett-jackson.com has pics in 1200x720 only apparently, but in the auction car list you can find a large selection of classic cars, giving you plenty of material to choose from.
  23. uplink port...
  24. why confused? even the paired and /or shielded cables used for cable internet and dsl cause radio interference to some extent. now imagine an abovegroud powerline that is running the signal on a single completely unshielded wire. that thing turns into a huge antenna broadcasting the high freqs of the piggybacked data signal. and we are talking loooooong antennas here. even the cabling in your house tunrs into an antenna when you use one of theos powerline networking widgets. sure, the transmission works, but the cost in interference is huge,
