  1. Let me tell you a story of how Comcast and T1 met ... One day this coaxial modem named comcast was walking the street dancing due to he thought he was the fastest internet on the planet. Then when he turned right and saw something come out the sewer.... Its a ethernet cable hooked up to T1. So then comcast looked at the ethernet cable for a moment then noticed that the ethernet cable was a female. So then he noticed the female ethernet cable go behind him and stick herself into the back of the modem (KIDS DO NOT SEE THE REST IF YOU ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 18.... IF YOU ARE PLZ LEAVE NOW) The female ethernet cable and comcast both had intercourse and comcast uploaded to the female ethernet cable and the female ethernet cable became pregnant. After 20 minutes (note its not 9 months because you gonna see why..) the ethernet cable gave birth to an ugly baby named 56K and they both took the newborn home and then the next morning ... ppl from AOL sneaked into the house and stole 56K. Thats why AOL isn't that great at all because they got an ugly baby named 56K :haha:
  2. you may laugh at this lewis but last year about November , before my boss had upgraded from 10Mbps to 20Mbps, I was only getting a D/L speed of only 15Kbps NOTE I SAID 15Kbps not Mbps
  3. It could also be distance from the nearest CO that the lines run on. I betcha if I lived just across the street or next door to the CO , it will be at 3Mbps or higher 99.9% of the time ( the other .1 is in case for verizon service upgrades) but I live 1/2 mile from the nearest CO and I get speeds on http://infospeed.verizon.net most of the time 2.9Mbps

  8. You thought T1 was good connection . my poor ass high school district only had ISDN connection and I think still do . The reason why they never upgraded was because thr school board here in Baltimore was paying an fired employee over $6 million and guess what she did SHE WENT DOWN TO FLORIDA HOOKED UP WITH A 25 YEAR OLD GUY (AND THIS OLD WOMAN IS LIKE 55) AND HAVE A $4 MILLION HOUSE BY THE WATERFRONT NEAR MIAMI.

  10. See thats the problem with AOL is their high rates for Dial-Up but does ne1 know the speed for their AOL High Speed ?
  11. Yep I know how that feels but try going online between the hours of 3 am and 7 am of any day especially Saturday and Sunday mornings and u can see your speeds close to 6.5Mbps but promise something DON'T STEAL ALL THE DAMN BANDWIDTH !!! Had cases here in Maryland my co-worker lives in Columbia ; one of the neighborhoods receiving fiber now and 1/2 is Fiber and the other 1/2 is still Cable DSL and Dial-Up and he happens to notice that Verizon have been stealing all the bandwidth from Comcast for their fiber and he is with Comcast and he said that he must get on the internet between the hours of 11pm to 7am to get a good connection from Comcast . Because what I think it is is that its interference with the bandwidth from Verizon and the bandwidth from Comcast and being Fiber is stronger in connection than cable , Verizon has been winning in that neighborhood . AND ITS BEEN THIS WAY FOR 6 WEEKS !!!
  12. But at least from what I have heard from Verizon FIOS around Christmas , I could have FIOS
  13. Crazy you should see my Downstream speed on Saturdays and Sundays..... 3.325Mbps 415.6KBytes 6:14 am April 15th , 2006 and I have peaked only once over 3.6Mbps since I bought the 3Mbps package about a year or so ago.

  16. Hell where I go to school at here in Maryland (CCBC) they are over 16,000 students registered and attending classes in just 1 of 3 main campuses and 2 more extention campuses across Baltimore County. They are around 6,000 computers on just the one campus I work on because I happen to work in the ITS ( Information Technical Services) and if I'm on campus at 7 am and the only person online throughout the campus at 7am, I could easily spike 20Mbps downstream with about 3-5Mbps upstream through Comcast Dark Fiberoptics. But with most of the computers are being used at the same time ; I can only get between 300-950Kbps downstream but the upstream is around 1.3-1.6Mbps. So really Fiberoptics helps especially for colleges but the lame high schools needs better connections.
  17. I have gotten a few times 3200Kbps+ by Verizon Speedtest but never passed 3000Kbps on here It just depends on where you live and how close to CO because I know Cable uses alot of bandwidth on their connections and it limits their next door neighbor of their speed sometimes but with DSL (Verizon) its pretty smooth . The 3200Kbps+ is typical late at night and on weekends when very few ppl are online and being I like 6,500 ft from CO it ain;t bad at all and the margin of error on Verizon Speedtest is only .2Bytes / sec
  18. How can I tweak a connection if my modem is set at a certain point of verizon's standards? My MTU in my modem is 1500 and I don;t know how to change it . Does ne1 know how to tweak my modem w/o messing up the modem?
  19. LETS SEE HOW MANY WOULD WAIT TO GET VISTA OR SP3
  20. Is there a way to change the MTU w/o getting in trouble with Verizon? The modem is set to 1500 and can not be changed through the modem.
  21. I don't know where you live at but if you call up 1-800-567-6789 , you should get the 3.0 upgrade for free because I pay $29.95 for the 3Mbps connection .
  22. Well hell , 30Mbps / 5 Mbps Verizon FIOS has now went down from $179 to $ 55. Its gonna be about 3 months till its probably available in my area. That is if BALTIMORE CITY decides to let Verizon put in the Fiberoptic cables underneath the streets. You know how much Colleges , Local , State, and Federal Buildings need fast internet. I'm currently at 1 of the 3 campuses at CCBC (Community College of Baltimore County) and at my college, about 15,000-20,000 students at my campus ALONE ! Out of all 3 Campuses , about 70,000-75,000 students and the college runs on if I can get it right Comcast FIOS (10Mbps+) WHEN THERE ISN'T ANYONE ONLINE ! During my classes , I can only receive around 600Kbps. So Verizon needs FIOS here in Baltimore City/County because my internet is somewhat lame also :::.. 23. What service plan do you have with Verizon? If you are paying $15 / month , then you have the 768Kbps / 192Kbps connection . Your connection seems right if its that plan. The 3.0 connection is pretty old now due to FIOS. :::..
