That looks more like an overclocked 768K DSL than 1.5M . My modem is the same way that it can show it more than 400Kbps higher than my advertised speed . So I have to say it can be... 1) Spyware , Adware , or viruses or 2) Verizon basically lied and said you got the 1.5 but you got the 768 As minus well, how far you live from your CO in feet? Just ask for billing at the automated voice . The price is $29.95 if you have Verizon Encore ($37.95 if you do not) . You should be available for the 1.5Mbps/384 or 768 Kbps . You will expect the change immediately or may take up to 3 days to receive the full amount of the service. And also your bill cycle will change to up to 5 days earlier than it normally arrives and is due . I believe if you live close to 7000 feet , you can get the 3.0Mbps/768Kbps connection for the same price but it is determined by your distance from your location to the CO that will be more efficiant. Limewire I have to say is the fastest downloader ever ahead of ares then kazaa. But what gets me is that the ppl who pay $20-$50 for the subscription and they are the higher priority that are getting sued because they get more features than the free customers. I have a $200 20GB MP3 Hard Drive Music Player that can store OVER 20,000 SONGS if formatted to 64Kbps WMA. I am not willing to spend $20,000 on just music from like napster. What about those ppl who are close to welfare , they would have to pay for those songs. But a middle class citizen ($70.000/yr job) won't have a problem with that because they can buy alot with $70,000.

I had that same problem a while back but the old Westell Wirespeed only handles half duplex connection (10 Mbps) and that speed tests are incorrect when dealing with a half duplex connections. The Westell 2200 is guaranteed the full duplex connection (100Mbps) and is accurate nearly 100% of the time on speed tests. One main reason that I have on my mind is the release of FIOS and that 10 Mbps connections to the networking card is no longer used so 100Mbps will be used for now on till a higher speed above 100Mbps comes out.

it depends on the location of the CO. If the CO is located more than 2 miles away, then your connection will be low. When I upgraded from 768K to 3.0M , the speed difference was changed and was at full speed at the end of the phone call to verizon but make sure you have the latest modem , the Westell 2200. The reason why it doesn't work well on infospeed.verizon.net is that u need a full duplex internet connection (100Mbps). The new Westell 2200 has 10/100 available where the old Westell Wirespeed only had 10. Tested on infospeed.verizon.net 2812.9Kbits 351.6KBytes with a rate of 1 MB at 2.8 seconds.

Well Comcast has a Gigabit internet in the works at the time. The science of it is compression of data. The smaller the file is compressed , the faster it will go. The Gigabit internet should probably run about $400 a month .

Its not mainly for the wealthy . People who work for the NSA and CIA live in Montgomery County so they need the fastest connection available. Everyone will have it by 2006 or 2007 and believe me ppl who are with comcast will cancel their service when FIOS comes out . Currently its $53 a month for 6Mbps /768Kbps with comcast. When FIOS comes out , it will be 15Mbps / 2Mbps for $8 cheaper with Verizon Freedon at a price for FIOS at $45.

SBC Yahoo! is not a good service provider for internet. I know ppl who live in Ohio and they said that the prices for internet ranges from $14.95- $24.99 and speed ranges from 384-1500Kbps down / 128-384Kbps up for $14.95 and for $24.99 ranges from 1.5-3.0Mbps down / 384-512Kbps up. The only thing that ppl get SBC Yahoo for is for the Yahoo All-Star membership. Best thing to go for is companies like Verizon or Comcast because you really get the free stuff on here. Last Year with verizon , I got MLB TV on my computer for free and this year I got enhancements on my speed and service. I went from 768 Kbps down/ 96KBps up to 3.0 Mbps down / 384 KBps up FREE OF CHARGE and being my modem was 4 years old , it couldn't handle the updated speed so I had to buy the latest model from verizon for $40 . The Westell 2200 is like one of the best models of modems around now with the direct connection and also the USB function ; but with the USB function , you need to ask for the USB disk to be able to use the modem anywhere you want to use it just as long as you have the phone line connected.

I did because it was going sluggish even when I had 0 viruses 0 spyware 0 adware and firewall plus. But now its at the advertised speed for verizon but is .5Mbps short of average verizon.net speed which is close to 3.5Mbps. I guess when I downloaded SP2 in place of SP1 , it caused the problem. So if you have Windows XP with SP2 already installed on the disk from Microsoft , then it will work.

DirectWay is bad because you can't get internet in the middle of a heavy rain storm. The ping is about 4 seconds in between webpages compared to tenths of a second with DSL and Cable.

If u has for instance verizon 1.5Mbps/384Kbps is typical. I have the same problem also but its server problems with yahoo for instance. I tried to download a game off of yahoo and it was only going at 90KB/s compared to my usual 384KB/s. And then I go to MSN games and download a game and it shows 400KB/s. So it may be a server problem with certain websites.
