  1. now i am at home, on rr I am so sad I only get 7.4Mb/s from here but it says its good (premium service) I am paying for 8Mb, not really getting it! One sad fact is that at work I can be on wireless 54MBps and get faster download speed on wireless link at work than I can get at home. Also at work its a symmetrical wireless connection! If I go into work today I will post some speed tests here! Any one know why I can't get my full 8Mbps from home I only get 7.4. I know this computer uses the 100MBps CCS file from Van B, but I am testing from my desktop and can't get it over 7.6, I consistently average from my desktop only 7.1 - 7.3 at the most, I will post settings in a diff post if necessary, just let me know
  2. now i'm averaging 97Mb/s both ways! upload and download omg i wish I had this at home! I work at duke!
  3. doing it now, best i'm getting is 1MB sec, i getting bursts upto 2MB but thats as fast as I can get it i'm trying the 100mb.ccs file that was posted above
  4. With that test file I stay constant at 1MB/sec thats all I can push, however, I have used cablenut and used the T3 settings file. I didn't test it before I optomized it, but I didn't see a full duplex settings file as I'm not sure many people have access to that kind of speed, ya know? I'm not sure really how fast this will go, but I can get files from adobe.com the full acrobat reader in under 6 seconds easy!
  5. anyone have suggestions on how to tweak this thing? I can't find a test file that will supports the symmetrical 100/100Mb lines. I would love to get a 1GB/1GB test file! I want to see how far I can push it! This has got to be the fastest legit test ever done!
  6. yah, i wanna make it go faster! you know like the mazda commercial "zoom zoom"
  7. For those of you that dont believe me...I have attached the speed test results from an NDT server.
  8. On your router, make sure you dont have a QOS setting, MOST all new routers have a QOS Setting, make sure you disable it or the router will slow you down ALOT. QOS = Quality of Service
  9. my stats at work are 60mbps download and 30mbps upload can't find a site fast enough to really test it, testmy isn't fast enough in the evenings when I work so I can't get a good result from them, I tried the NDT servers and they consistently say "The slowest end is a 100mbps subnet" (which I know its talking about me!) and that is from duke.edu
  10. Well, we have had fiber outside our street for over a year, seen 1 infomerical about fios last month then another and that was it!
  11. if you say right click a downlaod link and choose to open it and not save it, then after its done you just left click it it will DOWNLOAD it at the "speed of light" or it will appear so, because its just transfering the file from a temp download folder to whereever you chose to put it. RR does not offer those speeds and wont offer it at least not in the next few years. at there current rate increase 2mbps a year we will get 20 mbps in what 11 years or so oh well by then I will have FIOS and it should be GigE. RR Only offers speeds like that on there dedicated fiber solutions which is a business class product offered that I know of in NC in the RTP region, can't speak for other places on this one. Alls I can say is that I get a consistant 9-14Mbps on RR Premium in Durham NC, but during the busy hours I get a consistant 8Mbps down and the standard 512Kb up....nothing special for us here.... BTW some luck people in NYC Rochester I believe are now getting bumped up to 7Mbps for standard service at no charge from what I hear. Haven't seen the upload speed tests for that yet, maybe it will be 7/1 service? one can only dream I suppose!
  12. I used the FIOS in van's version 7 cable nut settings, and I used the 15/2 fios settings and it put me over 9000, and I get a consistant 10+mbit/sec, the upload never changed from 512 for me... edit: no its not cached, i've retested multple times and get atleast 8.6 - 11mbps :::.. 13. i pay just 20$ extra for the service, my bill is for cable and rr is only 120$....not bad but could be better (they need to lower there prices!)
  14. If you have video its 64.95, if you want it by itself its 84 or something like that... the speeds are suppossed to be 8/512, but I get consistently now after I tweaked it easy over 8.4+ and depending on the site I get 10mb+, my upload is still the same though....anyone here of a update? (maybe an early christmas present from the man)
