  1. Well I got my newer computer and it has a 20 gig Quantum Fireball kt15 hard drive and found nothing on Google or Yahoo search engines. I want to know the specs on it.
  2. Well I finally got a newer computer, used but much better then what I had, although I so hate Compaq computers cause there is no jumpers at all on the mobo to overclock the biatch. But I'm happy with it. Talked the guy down from $180 to $125... that's Canadian money.
  3. I finally found a great glass version for Style XP,comes with thin and normal toolbar sizes. Just go here http://www.winmodify.net/files.php?section=Visualstyles&page=6and make an account, then download XPGlass Ver 2.10,no spyware or trojans or viruses.. What it looks like

  5. That's no problem Cableguy, but you're right, I can get a 30gig hard drive for $50 ...but the peformance would be the same is what I have now, cause the mobo only runs at ATA33... which this drive is already running at ATA33 5400rpms
  6. ,maybe I'm not sure,I'd have to dig through my closet I know I have a Toshiba laptop in there that was a 286.... thing weighed a ton... I don't remember what else was inside it as memory and such, it had Windows 3.11 though.
  7. I got a question,in Win XP if you right click on your hard drive, you have 2 options....1 is the fast indexing, the other is hard drive compression..... with a 3gig hard drive, how much would I gain in space, and does it slow down the hard drive read/write 's ??? Edit: NVM, I found my answers, should of Googled it first b4 asking,so plz delete post. Thanks.
  8. Yeah I know ,takes 5 min to load XP .... but unlike Win98se when I would get the dreaded "Out of Memory" screen and had to reboot every 6 hrs... I can run XP for 6 days without any problems, so it may take longer to load, but I can run much longer on it.... much better memory mangement in XP.
  9. I have the exact same thing, , I use to play choplifter on it. Awesome game btw.
  10. Hey I got a Maxtor 7420AV hard drive I got right beside me, only 420meg capacity, 986 cyl,16hds,52sec, Manufacture date:11-19-94

  14. Once in awhile I like to go back to the good old days and dust off the keyboard and play on the Commodore vic 20, with the good ol tape drive.
  15. Yeah I'll have to ring em up tomorrow, since it's not 24/7 tech support.
  16. Same place yes, but same isp no .. it is a different isp ..... but I got to say those are bad ping times, just to the first hop is 59ms .... my other isp and dns I used was much quicker.... the first hop to piero.pppoe.ca, is what is slow .... is there a way to change the first hop to another place? Still haven't been able to find a DNS server in Montreal,Canada... it would be sweet though.... I was told usually colleges and schools are given there own dns. But I believe it may be rumor.
  17. Back in the day when I was using Win98se, I had a dns that gave me ping times of 14ms ... now I try it on Win XP sp2 and can't get under 90ms. And my first hop always goes to the same place even if I change DNS, so I'm thinking maybe I'm not doing it right, can anyone help me out? at this time I think I'm using dns servers 4.2.2.5 and 4.2.2.6 , here is my result for ping and tracert. 18. I'll give it a try... but it's not possible for me to go to 100fsb, due to the fact that the only jumper settings are 66,75 and 83. Thanks
  19. I don't remember the errors,I never wrote them down... but basically saying if you installed new hardware, please remove it, system cannot load.... as for the Bios it's the newest one, and no it's not a dual boot. I figured that it might be because the data was written at the 75 * 4.5 originally, and if I set it to 83 * 4 , that the memory is going to fast for the data written on the disk... and my memory is pc100's inside.
  20. Ok I have an old computer using an ASUS mobo, the usual speed is P2 300mhz, I overclocked it to 337 with fsb at 75 * 4.5 cpu ....and formated my hard drive and installed Win XP and have no problems.... now when I changed my settings to 83fsb * 4 cpu =332 ... which we all know will work better cause the faster the memory the better it is. Well I put it to those settings the system works fine and doesn't lock up.... but when my win xp loads, I get errors. my question is that if I reformated my hard drive at the 83* 4 cpu settings would it resolve the problem or is the fsb running to fast for the IDE port to the hard drive?
