  3. Hmmm at testmy.net I get only 3kb upload...but at 2 other sites,my upload is much higher http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedchart.asp?id=13acc690105a4b24f9413acc690 But my download is still slow even for a 33.6k modem.
  4. This took me some time,but hopefully this will help 1)Win98se 2)AOL Canada ummm 56k ... but I'm using a 33.6k modem, so I connect at 33.6k 3)Had cablenut settings for cable modem but just changed over to the 56k setting for Win98 from cablenut. Had to use the isdn result cause there is no 56k option. I put 5kb/sec...not sure what a 56k modem is supose to get ...I believe it is 7 or 8kb/sec download. http://ttester.broadbandreports.com/tweak/block:5162c35?service=isdn&speed=5kb&os=win98SE&via=normal 4):::.. 5. Long story short I lost my cable internet due to income problems and now I'm stuck on a 33.6k modem using AOL *yuck*. I'm using Win98... I would due some of the tests on this board,but I do not have enough hard drive space to install Java. But basically the test at this site says 2kb/sec. I know my settings at this time was optimised for cable and not dial up. Does the tweak in this forum include dial up settings?
  6. I don't know about the packets that are out of order, or if it reflects on results and such. But I would like to say thank you Van, and if there is anything else that can be done to tweak it better let me know.

  12. Well I looked under the properties of my network card I have it set to 100 Full Duplex mode ,which Van's post is told for us to do. But is there any other settings that are better? I have Connection type = 100Base-Tx Full Duplex DMA burst length= 32 Dwords flow control= Auto Map registers= 32 Network address = Not present is selected no cable indication = Disabled recieve buffers = 32 recieve threshold = 64 bytes transfer buffers = 32 transfer threshold = 128 bytes Is there certain settings I should use better than the default ones that are entered in them?
  13. Hmmm I guess not a bad speed all the way from Montreal,Canada 28.8k Modem 28 33.6k Modem 33 56k Modem 56 64k ISDN 64 128k ISDN 128 384k DSL 384 768k DSL 768 1.5Mb DSL/Cable 1500 You 822 7816 bits downloaded in 9.51 sec
  14. Yes Netmaster my router does have DDNS , although when i looked it up it asked me for domain name, user name and password . Not exactly sure how that works, but I still don't understand how that will help me out, according to my router, it can only do port fowarding with a static ip.
  15. Well actually i broadcast on shoutcast and jetcast, shoutcast is ports 8000 and 8001 and jetcast is ports 9000 and 9001, but there is so much stuff to choose from in my router i'm not exactly sure what to do. Does any of you have a Dlink di-704p Rev C router? Called my cable company and it is a dynamic ip, although the tech said it hardly ever changes.
  16. I just read about doing port forwarding for my router,turns out i need a static ip to do so. So my question is cable a static or dynamic ip , Cause I would like to broadcast my internet radio station and had no problems before getting my router, and my router at this time is set up for a dynamic ip.
  17. That's a sweet speed, any tweaks of any sort?
  18. Ahhhh I got it now, thanks for the info and what it means
  19. Thanks for your input Van, although I wish i knew what you meant by losing a node, but it seems it doesn't matter to much
  20. Van Buren, is this test any good? I'm not so good at this stuff http://www.dslreports.com/speedresults/437b944765a4/1632271
  21. You got to be kidding me , why is so different for mtu settings in Win98 and Win XP
  22. I posted earlier that my service was 5100/768 ... I checked it over again and it's 5100/820 .... and I'm getting nowhere near 820 on upload. :::..   24. I don't know why i get such bad scores at the dslreports web site. 2005-01-23 04:59:16 EST: 2593 / 420 Your download speed : 2655571 bps, or 2593 kbps. A 324.1 KB/sec transfer rate.
