  1. You can open Windows Media Player, and goto Play Url Then copy and paste the link below into the text field: http://66.92.107.104:8000/listen.pls'>http://66.92.107.104:8000/listen.pls or http://66.92.107.104:8000 Its one or the other, and it will begin to buffer... For WinAmp you can just hit Ctrl+L and paste that in the text field also.. Everything will work after that... Regards, - - VyraX - -
  2. The audio-stream is still going strong if anyone wants to listen to it.. Very active tonight.. Must be a full moon... Regards, - - VyraX - -
  3. Sorry guys its a little slow tonight on the audio stream, usually its very active. You would be suprised its more active on nights with a FULL MOON.. - - VyraX - -
  4. Just wanted to let people know I have a audio stream up.. Kinda interesting if you ask me, always gives a Sunday night a little more spunk and entertainment.. Well here it is.. It is really my local police, really interesting.. Check it out.. SHOUTcast LiVE Audio Stream If you don't hear anything, its cause they aren't talking.. Give it a few.. Be sure to tell me what you think.. Don't know how long i'll keep it running but for now! Enjoy Regards, - - VyraX - -
  5. Virtual Training Center, has some quick videos you can feature without paying for them. Nothing is better than seeing it done from listening and viewing to learn. Its FREE, and it sure does help giving a heads up on what to expect. Here are the videos: VTC Linux Tutorials Probably can find them elsewhere, but I hear its only when you get Torrential rains..
  6. Anyone have any experience with Wireless Frequency Hop Spread Spectrum 802.11 Devices??
  7. Should run a TeamSpeak server off one of these open wifi connections. The wireless access points that are open with no port forwarding pose a problem. You can not run services on any ports. You can create SSH Tunneling to another connection to try to keep your traffic from being sniffed. Atleast they won't be able to see what you are chatting about, posting to forums, etc.. SSH isn't exactly a sure win, they still can log the data and try to extract the encrypted data later. By not having WEP enabled you leave your wifi device open to brute-force attacks on the main password on the router. Unless the user, ignorantly didn't set a password at all, and left it default. The brute-force method does dictionary style log-in attempts to the device, trying to guess the main password of the admin account to the router. Some routers are easier than others. It is a mistake setting your WEP key name as the main admin password on the router. WEP isn't anything uniquely special in terms of Security. ARP Redirection is another problem once they gain access to the network. Wireless has to many flaws... So best bet just leave it WIDE OPEN, or WEP the device. I do both.. Limit port forwarding, create a dummy-ip that isn't on your network and forward everything to it (DMZ). Use SSH Tunneling, then proxy your data. So no one can really sniff, or inject packets. Atleast they won't be able to have server run applications on their end, because of the limitations on the ports. Only be able to recieve info, and not really be able to broadcast data with video streams, audio streams, ftp, web, torrents, etc. Kismet is a great application for watching wifi data, but then again you have to know what you are doing with linux. Backtrack is another good penetration testing distro, to see if your network is vulnerable to attacks. Believe kismet is part of that distro, just have to find a good wifi-card that is compatible with the linux distro. Slackware is fairly forgiving if you ask me. There are many methods for Securing WiFi - but some are not for the average user. The old standards, Breezenet Equipment which uses FHSS ( Frequency Hop Spread Spectrum ) could be the best compared to these newer devices that are out on the market today. They only go up to 1mbit in speeds, but you can't view the device via typical scanning software like netstumbler. This method is what the government uses for deploying networks, so best bet you want your data secure? Use FHSS devices, easily be found on eBay. The newer FHSS devices that are around today, couldn't be cracked with all the supercomputers in the world. They were saying it would take until the Sun burnt out before they could even determine which packets were what. They even inject dummy packets, fake data, which makes it even harder to crack. Those are the standards which the Government uses, virtually unbreakable in terms of cracking, or sniffing packets. Food for the Thought Process - - VyraX - -
  8. Well either way, not sure about how factual the movie is.. Never really had the time to critique it.. Just like the point of view seeing it happen first hand.. Still thought it was a good movie and was worth watching. Anyone that hasn't seen pirates of silicon valley, be sure to check it out.. Sheds things in a different light when you look at Microsoft and Macintosh. Oh well on that note I'm getting some sleep. Money is to be made tomorrow, have to catch that early worm.. OVER AND OUT.. Regards, - - VyraX - -
  9. Ok, so macintosh and microsoft took the intelectual rights from xerox's system and made it their own. To some degree that is stealing, creating the system look and feel exactly as the others. Still they both lived by the same credo. Which was "a true artist doesn't create, he steals." Which built two billion dollar companies overnight. ispGEEK : You can stop with your petty attacks.. It doesn't show much on your behalf.. - - VyraX - -
  10. Tell that to bill gates, and steve jobs - who originally stole windows operating system and the macintosh operating system from xerox.. Watch pirates of silicon valley to fully understand.. What was the saying - - oh yea "a true artist doesn't create, he steals" Regards - - VyraX - -
  11. Best way to learn Linux from my experience is from the command prompt point of view. Install the system without a GUI for Serving Webpages, etc.. This way you are guaranteed to get your hands dirty in setting up config files, networking, learning the basic how-to's.. Found Slackware11 to be a great set-up, I recently installed in on my RackMount IBM x305 1Unit Server.. Let me tell you it works great.. Might get another Server for running Torrents and serving out files to my network and wifi connections.. TorrentFlux, Apache, MySQL, php, ntop, brute force detection - all great software to play with on a non-graphical-user-interface install.. (without KDE) That isn't counting the endless apps for monitoring wifi traffic.. Just better off installing it that way, now you are forced to learn it, in order to make it work.. Linux is basically MS-DOS on Steroids!!
  12. Have some photos of VerizoN Co-Location Facilities in NYC, you should see what those places look like. Talk about wires, we were only installing for one Company call NorthPoint Communications.. We would install amphenol cables, they have 40pairs of wires each.. Would install about 20-30 of those, at 30-50ft lengths.. The cable racks were loaded down with thousands of those amphenol cables.. Never seen anything like that before.. I'm sure they've expanded more in some of those locations since we were installing those cables.. Can only imagine.. They had no Camera signs everywhere, but - well you know me - didn't listen to them.. Guess they don't want people seeing the heart of NYC's communications.. Regards, - - VyraX - -
  13. Isn't that system set-up for NYC housing? Remember a Union plumber talking about those systems and how they opperated. I believe that was when they were first being installed. Sounds like a great plan if you ask me. Anything done remote is better than have to run around diagnosing problems, without even knowing where to start..
  14. Thanks !! Need all the support I can get..
  15. Well my company is in start-up stages, I look for places that have guards on duty that watch a yard or a facility. Find ways to eliminate the guards and initiate a monthly contract for a security system that suits their needs. Watched remotely, control lighting, etc. This account I am shooting for will make or break me this year.
  16. Moved On, Have Security System's to Design for a Ford Dealership..
  17. Well you know my point of view and now we know yours. Open wifi is there for use, sorry. There is no disclaimer when someone logs in. If there is no theft of personal data, no crime has been committed in my book. Sorry, I'm not the only one on here that feels that way. My wireless is Open and I see people logging in now what?
  18. Sharing ideas, concepts and keeping things out in the open is what Society should be like. This closed door policy to everything has a hint of paranoia. I'm speaking from the perspective of person, in an area, where this takes place and isn't looked down upon. Sorry maybe where you are, they have town meetings for securing your wireless, or should for that matter. Here people share internet, this concept doesn't work for you, sorry. Seattle Washington has the same vision, NYC has this vision also. To be honest, the sky isn't falling over here. It helps people function. Oh I need directions, let me pull over and use MapQuest, Google Maps, etc.. Employees out in the field are recommended to do this if they need directions, corporations recommend this.. It is strongly suggested most people do not do banking, ordering via credit card, and entering personal info over wireless. This is common sense. You are transmitting this data, and anyone can be listening.
  19. Well you know what, I'll go on running my Open WiFi for my neighbors to willingly use. While you guys go about doing what ever you do with your wireless. Continue to expand wireless links that span miles, not feet. I'll log into and out of my neighbors wireless connection, and I'm sorry fellas no one is going to say or do a thing. Wrong or Right. That is the truth. How the hell can you compare society's problems to this. "That is why people are taking back their neighborhoods??" I'm speaking about wireless connectivity not securing your open front door from theives entering your house. This isn't about stealing material goods. Really, come off it. Please stay on the subject. Yea if someone steals your bank info from a wireless broadcast, that is another thing. I'm not responding to personal attacks, flaming, etc. have better things to do.. Sorry.
  20. Freedom of speech, gotta love it.. Freedom to believe in open-source.. Freedom to believe in free-spaces.. And now FREE INTERNET what is next FREE WATER? That is a horrible concept, wonder who thought up all this crazy witchcraft.. Guess I come from the generation of "entitlement" - I see things in a different light..
  21. Open wifi is known as a HOTSPOT, non-technically people should understand this as an area designated for you to surf the web for free using a wireless connected device (ie: laptop). This is Open WiFi Networks, so if you leave your WEP off you have now opened up a fully functional HOTSPOT for you and your neighbors to connect to, even if you don't understand it, that is what you did. By not enabling the WEP the person gave the ability to let the person on their network, not the person connecting to it. So you mean to tell me that if I goto a park, and sit down and connect to a persons open access to the internet, that really doesn't mean for people to use his/her connection. Should in the same respect be able to have me arrested? Honestly, I wouldn't be able to exist around people who think connecting to the internet via open wireless is a crime. As far as cracking WEP encryption which can be done in under 10minutes, its the manufacturers fault for releasing such a bad security method. You simply poll the device over and over, and the device, even though your "not connected" will generate packets. Which is giving out the packets you need to crack the encryption. These are design flaws, that the manufacturer is to blame. Really the flaw is the design, and the wifi wouldn't work without the flaws. So learn how-to splice CAT5 if you don't like the way wireless networking is. Honestly.. Also, for the little kiddies that are obsessed with cracking into people's wifi connections. Maybe we should tell them they are better off doing drugs and staying out of trouble. Lets tell our kids, drugs are good, being a geek and cracking wifi WEP encryptions is BAD! Downloading illegal movies is BAD!.. :cough: BS.. Sorry.. Times are changing if you like it or not - that is the progression of life.. Without change, nothing good can happen.. Food for Thought - - VyraX - -
  22. Well - honestly I'm not the only one who uses their neighbors internet connection. Also, I'm not parked out front anyone's house using it either. Wonder if they consider WarDriving illegal also?? They were trying to pass a LAW in my area, that anyone with a Open WiFi Connection will get fined if caught. Its like, WHAT THE ?? You really think that would go over well, having sometype of task force driving around hitting people with fines?? Its your right to have open internet for FREE HOTSPOTS.. So you mean to tell me, that a Coffee House that has free internet will get a fine from the local authority.. Really got a laugh out of that one.. Could imagine the "open wifi enforcement police" roaming the streets looking to fine people. Talk about waste of government resources, and mixed up priorities. Sounds like paranoia on their part. - - VyraX - -
  23. Well 40-50% of my area doesn't use WEP encryption.. They don't even know how-to change the SSID.. My neighbor's signal is in my house, and his WEP is off.. So I believe that is fair game, almost an invitation for me to use his bandwidth.. Recently was WarDriving with Netstumbler.. Picked up 541 wireless access points.. 231 were not encrypted.. So cheers to the people who are clueless to setting up WEP encryption..
  24. Is it stealing internet if you open your laptop and it automatically connects to your :clueless: neighbor's internet service.. Open network and his signal is in my house, so isn't that fair game to be on it?? Also the "call the cops" is a little far fetched.. "911 dispatcher, what is your emergency?" .. "someone hacked my WEP encryption and is on my wifi connection send a car now!!" .. "sir, 911 is for emergency use only" .. Food for Thought - - VyraX - -
  25. Well that is what I am saying, it could happen. It's understandable, thinking that its impossible or nearly for that matter. Because of all the buildings we have to contend with, and there is also a ridge line that is 300ft right where the end of the Clearview Expressway where it meets Hillside Ave.. That is a problem with trying to reach the city and the surrounding area from where I am.. We have plenty of roof top access over here.. Its that damn ridge that blocks the signal.. If we could find a way around that, we probably could get a nasty little wifi-network set-up.. Hey you never know, get enough people willing to get on it - we might be able to get COGENTCO connection rated at 100mbit upstream and 100mbit downstream, and that is DUPLEX !! Who knows, like I said its all about the people you are dealing with and the organization and the accessibility to the roof tops. Food for the Thought Process - - VyraX - -
