I'm not a gamer. I'll be using it for school and around the house with a wireless setup. I will be dooing word processing, internet and maybe playing DVD's or music. I'd be willing to spend about $1500.

I'm looking to buy a laptop and I really don't know a whole lot about them. I am leaning toward the Dell Inspiron 6000, but I'm really not sure. Can anyone recommend a good site where I can talk to people about laptops and get some recommendations? Does anyone here use a laptop? I've heard horror stories about Dell's customer support. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I just got a Lite-On SOHW-1633S DVD/RW drive. I plan on using it in conjunction with my TV tuner card to record tv shows and then burn them to a re-writable disc to then watch on my DVD player. Can anyone recommend a good, high quality DVD/RW disc?

Where I live it costs $45 a month if you have a cable tv subscription. I personally think that's anit high, so I called them to cancel. I told them I am going to DSL for $29.00 per month and they offered me their service for that price. Obviously, I took them up on their offer.

When I run AdAware and it gioves the the list of files or cookies or whatever, do I delete them or leave them in quarantine? Thanks!! p.s. Is there a better program out there than AdAware?

It turns out that the splitter I had was a 1 gig splitter. I called Comcast and they said it may be the signal and that they wil have to send someone out to check it. Of course they pulled the old "they will be there between 9 and 12 or 1 and 4" bull. I feel like I'm living a Seinfeld episode.

I checked out that splitter. Can't I get a 1 gig splitter at Radio Shack or Lowe's?

Just got back from Radio Shack. I asked for a 1000MHz spliter and the guy gets me one. I just looked at the box and he gave me a VHF/UHF COMBINER. What dumbass!!!!! Now I have to go back to get the damn splitter. :angry5: So is there any way at all I can get the TV Card and the modem to work at the same time??

I'm going to run to Radio Shack now and see if I can get a better splitter. If that doesn't work, should I call Comcast and see about getting a boost?

Yesterday, I got it working great, but this morning it isn't working again. The modem keeps resetting itself and I can't get a connection. I called the Comcast service line and they think it could be the splitter. Yesterday, I bought a brand new gold plated splitter and gold plated cables. Do you guys have any suggestions about what I can do? Right now I have the cable plugged directly into the modem and it's working fine. The service rep said something about having at least a 1000 mhz splitter. Does this make any sense?

How do you adjust the SP2 setting?

I just did this patch thing that is in the FAQ and it incresed my speed. Will this hurt my computer and how can I restore the original setting? Here is what I did: 1. I recently installed an TV Tuner card and I had to use a splitter to run the cable to the card and to the modem. My computer has slowed doen noticeably since I started using the splitter. Is there anything I can do to get it back to normal?
