ok well here is my fresh install...with compiz fusion and everything, but here is a pic of how my laptop is and stuff. fr now.

I have mandriva 2008 installed as a dual boot with xp media center edition, and it all works perfectly fine, except.....when i rebooted after installing some updates, i couldnt use my wireless....after first setup my wireless was perfectly fine, but then i updated and restarted and no more wirless...how do i get my wireless to work again.... thanks.

nope, thanks man though. i have Mandriva 2008 its so awesome. other than the fact that i cant get compiz to work... because i have no lag at all and its fast even though my cpu speed isnt full.

i have a question...i have dual boot mandriva 2008 and xp media center on my laptop...ok well two questions.... one, my cpu is 1.8ghz amd sempron but it only reads as 800mhz.... and 2, i am pretty sure i have the water effects, wobbly windows, etc, enabled but i cant get compiz fusion to actually work...hwo do i use the effects...

i love suse 10.2 but never tried .3....but i just put mandriva 2008 on a cd so i can install it. yeah ubuntu sucks ass. i didnt like one thing about it.

which do you prefer, i have used ubuntu and thought gnome was ok, but after using suse 10.2 and mandriva 2008. i prefer kde...which do you all prefer?

thanks mudman. i have an update, since i just started yesterday basically. im on my first WU and its 750/1500 frames. not sure if its fast or not but i've been at it for about 9 hours maybe. im maxing out one core, and my cpu doesnt go above 47C....which usually is around 25C idle...but usually so far with F@H i've gotten around 38C temp. but anyways. is that fast for my pc? or what?

thanks, but im gonna stick with the graphical version, and im only gonna use one core, i guess that way i will still be able to run my games without noticeable lag and stuff. but thanks for teh info.

ok guys, i just installed the folding at home thing. i decided that since i rarely max out my cpu (never have with this thing anyways) i'd put my connection and pc up to some good use. edit/ ok i have one question tho...my cpu is an amd athlon 64x2 5600+ 2.8ghz overclocked slightly to 3ghz... well i set the options to use the cpu to 100% when not being used...task manager shows 50% being used..is this because its only using one core?

yeh, im saving for a new vostro..so i doubt i'll get it anytime soon. but yep....untill then i have a 19 inch or something like that that will work fine.

lol guys its a bad sign when you have to turn your tv off when you hear a ultra high pitch whining and some other weird sounds coming from your tv right? mine is fading in and out with color and making sme pretty crazy sounds. one time the picture litterally went black and white and i had to unplug it cause the power button didnt turn it off....its a 25 inch crt magnavox...like 5 years old...used everyday...modestly.....lol
