  1. I am going to water cool it this winter to see how high I can get it overclocked. I also have a 3700+ [single core] in my other computer running windows vista RC1 with no problems. AMD may not be the fastest cpu right now,but they still work great.
  2. I have a 4400+ in my computer now with 1mb L2 cache work great. It overclock to 2716 mhz with a voltage of 1.45 on the stock heatsink. Temp while gaming get up to 50c,most of the time the temps are around 40c. It cost 216.00 OEM or 249.00 Retail at Newegg.com.
  3. I would not overclock a notebook, most people underclock notebook to get better battery life.
  4. exploru The Athlon XP-M 2800 is a mobile chip is this cpu in a notebook or a desktop? I would not recommmend overclocking a notebook because the cooling system can not get rid of the extra heat in most notebooks. If it is a desktop I would do what TimPawlak recommend first, also look into getting more ram. Ram is one of the best ways to get more speed out of computer for the money.
  5. I got Windows Vista RC 1 build 5600 64 bit on this computer now , it nice system but it not worth 400.00 dollars. the only real problem I had was with the beta version of Firefox 2.0 . I have the final release of Firefox 2.0 now and have no problems.
  6. ISPgeek How did you make out with your overclocking. What cpu mhz did you get up to. What are your voltage and temps.
  7. I do not think my problems with the motherboard is cause by overclocking. The board run fine for more then 6 months. Then one day it crashed, then I could not get it to restall windows, then it would not even post or post real slow. RMA it to ASUS they rework ECN,ECR,ARN, that what the paper said that they sent me. When I put the computer back together it work for 2 days then crashed again, would not restall windows but still would post.Call ASUS again this time they replace the board instead of trying to fix it. The computer been working fine for 2 weeks now. Like I said in my other reply [#40] alot of people been having problem with this board after 6 months. The little OC that you want to do should be no problem, just keep a eye on your temps when you first overclock the computer.
  8. Did not blow up any thing yet,but I am on my second motherboard. Asus RMA the first one twice before giving me another board[seem like alot of people are having problem with the A8N -SLI Premium board after 6 months]I Build this system back in Jan. with a 3700+,pay the same price for the 4400+in August[after AMD lower their prices]
  9. ISPgeek is right. If the computer is still under warranty do not try to OC it.
  10. Put overclocking program in google see what you get. You may get lucky and one might work.
  11. My 4400+ will only go down. 11 is the highest it will go upward on the multiplier. I think the FX cpu are the only AMD duel cores that can go upward. I do not know if you can OC a pre build system maybe you can do it with a software program like the one Voltageman said early in this post.
  12. Water cooling is going to be my next step. I used the stock fan now and my cpu temps are 36c to 42c [ room temp can make a big different in temps] just doing normal stuff and can go up to the lower 50c during gaming and I only went from 1.35 volts to 1.4 volts . Make sure you have a good air flow in the case if you are going to stay with air cooling.
  13. Part 2 You can also change the voltage to the chipset and HT. You may have to change the Hyper Transport Frequency from auto to 4x [maybe 3x] and change the Mem clock index value [MHz] from 400 to 333,if your ram is not the real good ram. I would just see what I could get with stock voltage and stock ram setting if I were you. If you do play with the voltage keep a eye on your cpu temps.
  14. I have a ASUS A8N-SLI Premium with a AMD X2 4400+ oc to 2615 mhz. I used the BIOS to tweak the cpu and set the ram timing. You can also change the voltage to the cpu,ram . I would not recommend you take big jumps in the cpu mhz like brock01,C2D might like that but AMD X2 do not. Raise it up a little bit at a time at stock voltage first and see what you get. Mine is CPU@2615[237x11] at 1.4 volts. Ram@ 2.5-3-3-8 at 2.80 volts with Ocz Platinum Edition PC 4000 Ram.
