Just look at the spec. for the 8800GTX ,it say it need a power supply of 450 watt mimimum . You are running it kind of close with that power supply[ 500 watt],I would go with a 550 to 600 watt power supply. If you run more then 1 harddrives or are going to run a second card I would go with a even higher watt power supply. I read somewhere that those card like a lot of power. I would not go cheap on a power supply with a 600.00 dollar card,I would wait and save up some more money and buy a good power supply.

The every day machine was build when the motherboard in the gaming machine crashed and I had to Rma it twice. The second time ASUS gave me a replacement board. The every day machine was build from parts I had already,plus a low price motherboard /video card/ case, total cost of new parts was 300.00 dollars.

That my weak point. I use windows firewall on my gaming computer so the speed say up .On my every day computer has windows Vista on it now ,I am use the firewall in vista. When vista run out I will put Ubuntu Linux back on that computer. My sig is my gaming computer.

That why I run three anti-spyware programs on my computer avg /spybot/spyblaster. And I also use c cleaner too.

I been using AVG antivirus & their new anti spyware program. Both seen to work good.

With only 768 MB of ram you will use the page file alot more then me. What is your page file set at?

I just check my page file ,windows set it at 2046mb initial size,maximun size 4092mb. That on the high side.

My page file is real low does not even read on the meter. . How much physical memory do you have,I have 2 GB.

I guess I will go back to Avast. It did work pretty good. When my evaluation copy of vista run out I will just switch this computer back to Linux. Thanks for your help.

Thanks Christopher Avast home does work with Vista,already had it working but it lower my downloading speed and my trial time is running out.

Thanks, But I already try it will not work with 64 bit window Vista only 32 bit I guess. You have to buy the professional edition for 64 bit.

Running Vista RC 1 beta 64 bit . Looking for a free 64 bit antivirus to work with it . Already try Avast, my time ran out and I did not like it that much[lower my download speed]. Is there any other free antivirus software I can try? I am not going to buy a antivirus program for a beta program that is going to run out in a month or 2.

Do the samething to the left & right speaker knob if you have one.

Try downloading it again and restalling it again and see what happens. Maybe something happen during the download or during the install. I just install it on a 4 year old DELL with no problem.

Make sure your connection are clean , if you have a volume knob on the speaker see if it come off and spray some can air in the speaker behind the knob to remove the dust. Dust can cause the speaker to cut in and out .

Your right the Opteron is a better buy. but my little 4400+ does not do to bad for $235.00[ will see what my 4400+ can realty do when I watercool it soon] Right now it stable and only runs 50c when gaming.

Why They are pretty much the same thing. They are no where near as fast as the Intel CPU's

I use Monster ScreenClean Display cleaning kit to clean my LCD Monitor. I got it for 19.95 USdollars. Work great.

If I was building a new gaming computer right now it would have a Intel cpu in it. They really out proform the AMD right now.
