ive see alot of ppl with MTU in a range from 1400-1500 Windows XP, 2k and win 98 se and win ME, has by defult Path MTU detection activated, and that means windows will find it for you. If your ISP has locked your MTU to 1400 there is no way to "overide" it. The result will only be fragmated packages and alot slower speed. The diffrence in speed between a MTU of 1400 and 1500 is almost nothing. VanBuren

Tcpwindow size can be calculated If you have a latency of 1000 ms and you want 200 KB/s and your MTU is 1500 (MTU=MSS+40) this is what you get There is another way also... By tweaking AFD buffers, in that case you use the RWIN value for Defult Recive Window, and leave Tcp Window size at default. VanBuren

hey bcraig I dont tweaks will solve all your problems, but start here powercycle your modem, leave it off for 30 seconds and then plug it in again follow this guide, http://www.testmy.net/forumz/viewtopic.php?t=605 also make a tracert against testmy.net start-run type cmd and hit enter type tracert testmy.net and hit enter right click and copy all and paste it here so we can see it. if you have Cablenut installed, you can try this file i made for MTU 1420 good luck VanBuren

this is your first hop after router 31 ms 32 ms 33 ms 10.32.107.1 it seems too high it suppose to be between 5-15 ms for you. is this node unstable? Do you sometimes get lower pings on this node? VanBuren

hey mbrainerd and welcome to the forum that thing only seem to change Max connections and proxy for your browser. To make sure you got all windows defult TCP settings i recommend you use Cablenut. download it here http://www.testmy.net/forumz/download.php?id=99 install it and open adjuster, click delete cablenut tweaks + click save to registry now reboot your pc. Call your ISP, the problem is in their net and there is nothing you can do about it. or email them and attach this trace. VanBuren

use the 1st setting and change DefaultSendWindow to 49152 VanBuren

do you have winzip or winrar? download the .zip file, click on it and extract it to C:ProgramCablenut then just open cablenut adjuster and in top left corner click file and load custom settings file, browse to the folder and load it, click save to registry afterwards and reboot your pc. VanBuren

I dont think you will go much faster then this, perhaps you can get some more burst if you change TcpWindowsize from 128480 to 256960 but it wont go any faster. VanBuren
