  1. That's cool. i'm not sure why Google's new network is casuing so much interest
  2. Does anybody know is Southern California has been upgraded? I keep seeing Comcast commercials on my TV talking about 6mbit upgrade. Currently Adelphia is my cable provider, but Comcast is supposed to take over sometime.
  3. Yeah, BBR's distance tool isn't very good. According to it, I'm just over 15k ft from my CO when Covad told me I'm actually a bit over 19k ft in an e-mail.
  4. My upload improved quite a bit here on testmy.net servers after tweaking a little. From 90kb/s to about 105kb/s: :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 855 Kbps about 0.9 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 104 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Tue Aug 23 12:33:02 PDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 15X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 9.85 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 82.69 % faster than the average for host (adelphia.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-6L03GNQMU I didn't change anything in the registry with CableNut for download because I like my current speeds: :::.. Does anybody know what the Duplex mismatch condition is and how I can fix it? Thanks. I'm on Adelphia's 6000/768 premier tier with a Linksys WRT54G router.
  6. Everybody has problems witht their connections now and then.
  7. This is my PC running XPHome, after being up for 52 days...running Core FTP LE, BulletProof FTP Server, 2 instances of mIRC, AVG, MSN messenger, Webroot Spysweeper, and dduptime
  8. This is the problem I've experience over the past 8 months or so: I test over my down/up caps (6mbit/768kbit) all the time like a lot of Adelphia customers but if I upload at more than 30kb/s (average test here is ~105kb/s), I cannot download faster than 350kb/s (average test here is ~6.5mbit). Some of you out there might be wondering why this is bothering me. Well, I share this line with the rest of the family and it is important for me to be able to upload files at a decent speed while they browse the web. Anyway, I figured maybe somebody else has had this same problem and can give some advice. Thanks in advance.
  9. My Adelphia conn has been rock solid for 25 days straight now, but that just might be because I'm in CA (take a look at http://www.broadbandreports.com/shownews/65298). Overall Adelphia has been pretty good for me. Enjoy your new service.
  10. My speeds have been pretty stable the last 14 hours or so. I've been testing at at least 6.5mbit. I'm on the 6mbit/768kbit premier service as well. The following test was ran without any tweaks: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 6930 Kbps about 6.9 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 846 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1) Test Time:: Thu Jun 9 10:46:22 PDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 124X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.21 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 123.91 % faster than the average for host (adelphia.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-ST8UHDA5R Of course, I still cant test over 90kb/s for upload on testmy.net....even when I use different browsers. Oh well.
  11. If you're an Adelphia subscriber and have unstable speeds, I suggest you call tech support and complain. I consistently get the following speeds (on the regular tier) now after calling tech support at least 5 times: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 5011 Kbps about 5 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 612 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (main) Test Time:: Sun May 15 12:42:34 PDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 89X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.67 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 64.84 % faster than the average for host (adelphia.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-3VU2N84SP :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 454 Kbps about 0.5 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 55 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (main) Test Time:: Sun May 15 12:45:20 PDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 8X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 18.62 sec Diagnosis: Looks Great : 12.66 % faster than the average for host (adelphia.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-RHC7KWIX8
  12. There are a couple ways to go about this: 1) Purchase a program such as NetLimiter which you would have to install on at least the 2 PC's you want to limit 2) Buy a router that allows you to set restrictions based on date, time, etc. such as Linksys wrt54g (i dunno what brand/model router you have)....there might be more ways, but those are the easiest.
  13. I have Adelphia, too, and am getting similar results however I'm on the normal tier (4mbit/384kbps): :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 1975 Kbps about 2 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 241 kB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Tue, 22 Mar 2005 11:02:29 GMT-0800 Bottom Line:: 35X faster than 56K 1MB download in 4.25 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 72 % of your hosts average (adelphia.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-ZVP5B8IKR :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 331 Kbps about 0.3 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB) Upload Speed is:: 40 kB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Tue, 22 Mar 2005 11:05:43 GMT-0800 Bottom Line:: 6X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 25.6 sec Diagnosis: 90% + Okay : running at 97.35 % of your hosts average (adelphia.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-HLF3YRWTJ The crappy thing is I know 2 ppl who dont even have the premier service that are testing at 6mbit/850kbps...how's that possible? I mean there are less people on my block with cable than their blocks and yet between the three of us I have the least consistent, slowest connection? Adelphia has been out to my house twice to test my line and they say nothing's wrong...i'm sure I've posted all this already so I won't go on. One last comment: I know cable isnt guaranteed 90% of the speed all the time but the results above were taken from tests ran at 11am on a tuesday morning...
  14. I have Adelphia in Calif. and I was getting crappy speeds too....I mean 10kbps down....so I called tech support. Then the "upgrade" happened and I was getting ~3.9mbit down...that only lasted one day. Now I average 2mbit down, pretty much the same results as uf0...when friends 5 houses down are getting 6.5mbit down. Adelphia sent out somebody to check my line quality and such, but I havent heard anything from them reguarding the results...or problems. They haven't volunteered to replace my modem or cables...they just said my modem was experienceing major packet loss. I'll call tech again sometime this week. Anyway, uf0 I feel for you big time. The faster upload is a plus however I do have 3 other ppl in this household and even with 2mbit down it gets clogged if 2 of us are on ebay...Good luck getting stuff sorted
