With that speed, I'd be a happy camper, too.

300 MHz? No wai!

Mmm, airflow. My case doesn't really have good airflow. My RAM does have heatsinks, though. It's kind of generic, but it's not value RAM. By the way, what is considered "too hot" for a video card?
-
Well, NVIDIA Monitior shows my CPU voltage as 1.55V, but I think that's wrong. I used AMD Power Monitor and it showed 1.35V.
-
Ok, I'm going to lower the voltages and see if that helps.

My computer has been acting strangely lately. I use NVIDIA's NTUNE software to overclock (no overclocking options in BIOS). Every time I turn on my computer, I overclock my CPU from 2,412 MHz to 2,520 MHz (whoooooo), my PCI-E slot from 2,500 to 2,625 MHz, I drop my memory timings down a little bit, and overclock my graphics card from 450/660 to 542/732. Sometimes, though, when I play games, my computer just randomly shuts off. It does it way more often on Vista than on XP, and on Vista, I've even had it shut down while I was just browsing the web. I don't think it's a temperature problem, but maybe I'm wrong. Could it be a bad power supply? My power supply is a generic brand.

Wow, it worked! Thanks!

Ok, I downloaded that, but I have no idea how to use it.

I know how to backup, but how do I run a disk sweep. I have already used the "repair" function several times, with no luck, but it's worth trying again. Yes, I can access my files, so the hard drive is still good. Both of my drives are SATA drives, so they're neither slave nor master (or maybe they are and I just don't know what I'm talking about).
-
There are no CDs in either of my drives and no floppy in my floppy drive. Assuming my hard drive isn't dead, am I going to have to reinstall Vista? Since Vista will only let you install it twice, I'm kind of hesitant to do that.
-
Whenever I try to boot up on my other hard drive (the one that has Vista installed), I get this error: "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" I inserted the disk and tried to let Vista "repair" itself, but no luck. Anyone know what could be causing this problem?

Can they really do that?
-
Well, I'd keep on monitoring it for a while. I'd still say the AT&T is your best choice, considering it's really cheap, and quite fast. I can pretty much assure you that if you're eligible for the 3-6 Mbps package, you'll get closer to 6 Mbps than 3.
-
Yeah, and they haven't even replied to my email yet. I have a suspicion they won't even reply at all.
-
Yeah, what he said. There's not a tool on AT&T's website that tells you how far away you are from the central office, but you can look for it while driving around town. It's the place where all the AT&T trucks are parked.
-
Well, if Cox is really that bad in Fayetteville, I'd switch, especially considering AT&T is much cheaper. With DSL, whether or not you will get close to advertised speeds is pretty much dependant on how far you are from the central office. BTW, I live in Conway, AR, and we only have two broadband options here. Conwaycorp (local cable company), and AT&T. Check out my topic here.
-
Yeah, basically, they're terrible. For those of you who have seen my previous posts about my ISP, you know they're bad, but they're getting a lot worse. Here is an email I sent them earlier today (be sure to click the links, they have speed test results, I'm supposed to be getting 3/256): I suspect they'll give me the "up to" 3 Mbps response. What should I do? What's better? That AT&T DSL I was hoping to get is not available at my current address! Conwaycorp (my current ISP) is my only option. They pretty much have a monopoly over my city and can do whatever they want with our Internet access.

Yeah, a lot of things are not working with Vista 64-bit right now, at least for me. When I get another hard drive (soon), I'll reinstall XP Pro on that so I can run all my old programs.

Testmy.net owns my soul.
-
Err, I bought the Vista Ultimate upgrade yesterday, and it came with both a 32-bit and a 64-bit disc.
-
I did a clean install with the upgrade version of Vista Ultimate.

Hehe, graphics card fried? Looks like Microsoft needs better cooling if graphics cards are frying at default speeds...
-
Ok, the current speed is the highest I can get it to overclock. I'm fine with 2.6 I tried upping the voltage but the highest it would let me go was 1.400v. My 3DMark06 score now: 4319
