I put my comp in hybernation every night. Otherwise, I don't restart it, unless I'm running out of memory or need to update something.

I disagree, well except for the ink costs. I've had the same printer, Stylus Color 740 for almost seven years (is that a record?) now and it hasn't failed me yet.
HP printers however, I don't really like.

Consumer Alert: Ads That Look Like Bills
Tom Spring, PC World Mon May 1, 4:00 AM ET
When the mail carrier delivered what looked like a Web-domain-related bill for $60 from a company called Listing Corp. last year, the San Diego chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security immediately sent in the money.

Seiko Epson has succeeded in getting four online retailers of printer ink cartridges to stop selling a number of third-party ink cartridges designed for use in Epson printers, the Japanese company says.

The four retailers are in Germany and agreed in out of court settlements to stop selling the cartridges, which Seiko Epson asserts infringe upon its intellectual property.

I guess we'll still have to keep paying $25-$30 per cartrige.

You do know that M$ has ways of knowing how many people are using one license key? The wonders of the internet.
-
I have a valid key liecenced to me, I just don't have the CD, lost it. What else am I going to do?
@ Swimmer - what's a full format? I thought thats what i'm doing.
- Tomer
That's your problem. Each product key is valid ONLY for that exact copy that it came with.

There are testmy banner ads somewhere that you can put on your site, cool ones. But I can't seem to find the links right now.

It's not so much the TV's as the programming. There are still not many shows that broadcast in full HD. Even video games and DVD's are still standard definition.

Once in a while, I'll put fake info in one just to see what happens.

If you're using a laptop, slowing down the speed could save battery power. If it's a desktop I really see no point in having that feature.
-
Are you having any problems with your connection? I'd guess it some kind of network error.
-
It's not working for me. Error 403 forbidden.
-
If you are getting a burning smell, I'd stop using that PSU right away. You do not want to fool around with electricity. Not that it would catch fire, worse case, but you could fry something in your system at the very least.

First, it's no bother at all. We're all here to help each other.
It works fine for me. What kind of error, if any are you getting?

Despites what Linux users may say, there is not a good alternative to windows. We have no choice but to buy, or we get left behind.
Well, that's your opinion. Some people like Linux, some like Windows and other like other OS's. there are dozens of OS's out there. We have many choices.
And in case you hadn't noticed, when MS sees no one buying anymore, they just cut off support and rush out the next version. MS knows what they are doing, that's why he's the richest man on the planet. But it doesn't make it ok, just good business.
Not exactly. M$ forces us to upgrade by ceasing and "sunsetting" support for their products.
Yes, I agree that it is good buisness. Just like many other companies, they are in it for the money. So, as long as we keep giving into them by buying their products, they do "own" 90% of the computer OS market, they will keep charging whatever they want.

I don't feel as strongly in a good way about the U.S. as much as I used to, mainly because of what the Bush administration has done to this country. A few examples.
1.He cheated in the 2000 elections, and possibly 2004.
2.Domestic spying. (I'm with NH's slogan, "Live free or die")
3.DMCA
4.The so called patriot act.
5.Trying to control the rest of the world.
I could go on....

The point is, MS does not HAVE to charge 145 for an OEM copy of XP Pro. They WANT to charge 145. I like MS software, I use most of it in my home. But I don't buy any of it. It has no more issues than any other software on the market does. They are attacked more, yes, but that because writing a Linux virus has no purpose. You'd infect what, 10000? people at most? If you want to get your name out there, you do after the software most people use, which is MS. It's only natural. But why charge 145 per copy when you could charge 50, or even 20 and still make money? How many more copies would be sold rather than pirated if the price came down? At some point, the price would make it stupid to pirate, because it's more trouble to pirate than buy for 30 bucks. MS has a bad business model, not software. They think higher price means more profits, when it's actually the other way around. Lower the price, more people buy it, you still make the same money and you don't have to spend fighting pirates.
You're complaining about the price and you're not paying for it? It's people like you that have us pay more for a legal copy, because you refuse to. Besides, I don't think $145 is that bad. I mean, Windows has a couple of billion lines of code.
I'm not saying I love M$, but the fact is, as long as we buy Windows, for example, at it's current price, they won't lower it. If you want them to lower the price, then boycott their products. you don't buy, they don't make money, and the pressure is on.
-
I can see both sides. Yes you should pay for the software you use. On the other hand if you pay 300 bucks for xp pro and can only use it on one computer in your home when you may have 2 or 3 computers in your home.
What resopalrabotnick said. Also XP Pro does not cost $300, at least not for 1 license. You can buy XP Pro OEM for around $145.

I forget the name of the company right now, but I know they do it for a lot of survey type sites. E.g.: companies wanting feedback for soon to be released products.
-
I'm not sure what kind, but I do know that there some coding that prevent screenshots from being taken. I know survey sites for example use them. Of course you could probably find the pic url in the source code. A watermark is also another idea.
-
That's what I'm guessing.
If that is what it is, he won't get good text on a TV. TV's have less than 800x600 resolution. Not too good for static computer text.
-
Ok, so are you trying to watch TV on your monitor or use your TV as a monitor?
-
Probably in his digital camera.

My question is what is wrong with dvd?
Who are you asking?

I'm fine with just using Media player. I never use real player, ugh. Real Alternative is much better.
