If i hole that button down and push the 2 prongs that turn the machine on the led 1 will stay lite up and the led 2 will momentarily lite up. The machine makes a sound coming from left bottom corner (machine is face down) then it shuts off. If held down both the reset button and the power button the two fans will turn on at top.

I took out the psu and put it back in and now the led 1 will lite up. I try to push the button and even push and hold it down but machine will still not power up.

The lites do not lite up on motherboard. Also noted my motherboard only has 1 button that picture shows two i don't know if that makes a differance. I want to try the multimeter but have not yet due to i really do not know where to put it and do not want to fry any good parts by a shock if done in the wrong spot.

I would have no idea on what prong to put the meter on.

Was my parents imac. One day they went to power on and nothing happened. Its a 22 pin psu with isight or whatever its called. The little lite censor. There is no noise coming from psu when turned on. No lights coming from anywhere on motherboard. No fans moving or hdd moving. As for molex when i hear that i think of a 4 pin molex connector. I do have a multimeter and a power supply tester for regular pc.

Is it possible to test a mac G5 power supply with a power supply tester. I am not very sure on how macs work at all. The mac will not turn on and shows no form of life. All caps on motherboard are looking to be good. Any advice would be appreciated.

DO you guys think that i should not buy a reg atx psu because of the problem i had when trying to plug a reg one into it. It did throw codes before it blew i did not get a chance to write them down i usually do not catch them the first go around.

also anytime this pc is turned off and a piece of hardware is removed such as ram vid card hard drive or anything it likes to do the super fan noise with no post no thing at all just pure throttle to the fan like its at the biggest drag race on earth.

ummmmm i do not know how to say this but..... after leaving the pc off and unplugged for an hour maybe.... It suddenly works fine..... I GOT NO IDEA something hardware related is very screwy here.... any ideas? So i ask myself. what would cause a cpu/system fan to go way above normal speed and by way above i mean about 10x faster then it should and not post or have the back lite codes or do anything except the fan go postal. Also what could cause the mouse and keyboard to freeze but the machine not shut off. I would think the answer would be powersupply for the fan because wouldnt voltage make it spin way faster if it is getting way too much. As for freezing i am not sure whats causeing that hdd seems to check out just fine. Also psu is reading normal on my testor. not saying it cant go out of wack at any time but it was 3x when i checked it.

well its not posting now. Was workking before the new psu got put in. when new psu was in it lasted for about 8 seconds through out some beep codes then a spark flew out the back. End result i cant turn the machine on with the power button anymore with the old psu lite comes on fan on case comes on and witht his machine thats also the heatsink fan. Could it be another issue? Yes... but what i got no idea on this one.

ok heres what bugs me the pc2-3200 not used to this form of ram also orignal motherboard blew because i put a differant power supply in it. The power supply that fried it has been in about 15 machines allways worked well just used as a tester psu. soooooo does dell put weird power supply in machines so you have to be forced to buy cruddy dell parts again? Only reason i can think of for this board to fry. Weird thing is i can see the lite on board sometimes can get it to beep by taken out ram but most times when i power it on the fan just goes crazy fast and loud with nothing happening. The fan acting up was the reason tryed a differant psu.

I notice alot that the socket listed when you check the spec on after market boards says it supports dual core. Will any same socket board support this cpu?

I got a dell demsion 4700 that needs a new motherboard. What are my options to get a new one that do not involve spending lots of money to get it. Thing i am having trouble with more is that i need a mobo that supports pc2 3200 ram. I believe its a socket 775 Has a P4 in it now Think this is a atx size mobo If i was to get the original mobo for this product it seems 2x as pricey as buying a new one. Looking for an after market board that can support that type of ram, cpu, has a pcie 16x slot, and is able to fit the case. Also has to be a 24 pin connector. Any help please need advise fast

Well i couldn't get any combo of those to work but i did get it to work on another laptop. I even took the monitors off both of them and tried it. Without the attached monitor connected the 2nd laptop pushed the screen instantly to the 2nd monitor. But screen vanished and i used an fn +f? (cant remember) and it showed up and worked fine. tried that same psu in the laptop in question and still wont post. Thing just getting worse and worse it seems like maybe its day is done

i am trying to use a secondary monitor but i cant seem to get fn + f4 to work am i doing this correct? machine also powers on i feel fan and hdd moving softly. 1 lite comes on. should be 1 lite then a flash of about 4 lites. The 1 lite that stays on decides to turn off after about 1 min and the pc still has power fan is still going and usb if i put something in it lites up. Motherboard tester still not picking up a code.

at the current time i am getting no picture on monitor trying to get it back this thing is buggin.....

Yes it pretty much freezes on anything that is done. booting from xp or vista cd - freeze bios left on too long - freeze booting from ultimate boot disc - works longer will boot but ends up freeze buys it maybe a few more minutes but as of now Is not even showing picture on screen The lite comes on and goes back off like it is having a power issue. So maybe i have 2 bad psu sitting here.

anyone know if the toggle to use an external monitor for this machine IS KEYS FN + F4 Also assume that the 2 power supplys is causing problems if i was to use a voltage meter on it would the possitive go on the inside and the negative on the outside? I dont want to burn the psu on something thats not mine.

mudman do you think that it could not be the chipset? I only had this happen 1 time and it seems to be a rare problem from what i can tell. Still tryn to boot this machine sigh Will get it sometime soon.

Had a P4 machine do the same thing except i could stick my hands in the case. The chipset was getting way way too hott and it would freeze up the screen. This since the monitor wont kick on sometimes would be caused by the graphics chipset (maybe could be many things) Also ruling out ram and power supply helps narrow it down.

Ok the heatsink was clean as all ever somehow.... these people keep a very clean home. was some dust in the fan but not much. As for the thermal paste. Stuff on there was hard as a rock and not covering good. Came off way faster then other machines i have done and came off in clumps with no leftovers lol. The machine currently is doing the same thing i was talking about before when i changed the ram and its not posting when i magically get it to work as in the other 4 times i will repost on results. Had some OCZ freeze compound i am sure its better then the junk they had in there before. If this does not work i think its a chipset in the machine and think this strongly.

after i get my stuff for this other laptop i got torn apart and get it back together i will get this one we talking about torn apart and will re paste it with good stuff. Probly be a few hours

Same thing with Ultimate bootdisk gets to a certain amount of time and freezes no matter what part of it i use
