I contacted verizon today, regarding my slow internet during 6-10pm

The guy sounded like a professional at first, and i told him exactly what i did. I told him i cleaned out my recycle bin, and whatever else the site told me i had to. Then i told him that sometimes when i tracert a site, it times out. He said "Thanks nice" and continued on asking if my modem was connected to a phone jack... i said yes it is. He asked me what type of phone wire i was using, i said a phone wire which is less than 14 feet long. He then said i should use the one that came with my modem. I said "yea ill do that later" and closed the damn chat.

And before this happened, i asked another support member why i was getting slow speeds from 6-10pm and she replied "Sorry, i cannot tell you why this is happening to you, do you have any questions?" and i said "How far am i from a CO?" and she replied "Well, my database says you are 10,000 feet from the CO, but this is unaccurate because its in the database (lol?) i just closed the char

Around 6-10Pm my speed is all over the place. I mean, all over... Sometimes 3.1Mbps, sometimes 600kbps. Is anyone else experiancing these problems? My guess is packet loss. Upload is fine though.

These forums arent dedicated to "kindergardners" but to people who share a common interest in internet speed. You may not be bothered by it, but many are. Like i said in my previous post, I dont like to come back and see 10 replies, with 1 being usefull to me.

I mean, if it was atleast funny, but its not. Its just plain sad.

I personally dont like it when i come back to my thread.. i see 10 replies, and 9 of those are non topic related/flame. Like Van said, and like i said numerous times before, go take it somewhere else such as PM's or instant messaging. Ah cool, because I see Verizon vans on my block once a week and they always stand next to the same pole and there is usually a guy up there opening the box lol

Its funny how when i used your test, and got 8Mbps download, it got saved, and im on top of my isp's top scores page lol

What is a DSL CO? Is it an acutall building or a box on a telephone pole? If its a box, ive got one sitting on my block.

The 3/768 plan came out like 2 weeks ago. Its only in New York, and some parts on New Jersey though.

Unplug your phone devices, and connect your modem directly to the telephone jack. Go back to testmy.net and test your inernet. If its where its supposed to be, its a phone screwing everything up. Then plug each device in one by one, and reboot your modem every time you do it and see if your speed drops. Then just eliminate the device thats causing the problem, or buy a new phone.

If its not that, then maybe your phone line is too long. Im talking about the one from your modem to the phone. Its supposed to be under 14 feet.

Since Verizon is a way better value here in NY than TWC, they have to be some sort of competition. I mean 3/384 with twc for like $44.95, am i right? With verizon you get 3/768 for $29.99. I guess that many people were switching from TWC to OOL or Verizon.

I mean It would totally suck if i had slower speeds, while my next door neighbor was able to get twice as fast for the same price, but i wouldnt be able to do anything about it.

My upload speed sucks because i have a phone that makes it slower.. its hard to explain, but i'd have to uplug the phone, but i need it too (Its an answering machine...)

With dsl, is it true that the more phone devices i have, the slower the service will be? Yesterday i unplugged everything, dsl was fine. I had to plug back in the phones, lol, but my service cant get passes 2.3-2.4mbps on download and 640k on upload. Is there anything i can do?
