  1. you could run it from your computer, but it would be kind of slow, but if you can put 15-20 dollars a month aside you could rent a professional server with lots of bandwidth
  2. all of the above..lol or u could setup a lan between ur desktop and laptop but i would suggest firewire if is available to you.. since it is capable of handling speeds of 400 mb/s
  3. 1) What kind of server are you trying to run?, Game server or other (HTTP,FTP,etc.) if your trying to run a game server like for example Counter-strike im not sure but I think you can have about 10 people or so and not have lagg, it could be more im not really sure.. if its a FTP server than it would be kind of slow if people were to download things of it same thing with HTTP

  14. Hey Van, I'm running a version of linux right now its called Gentoo its a bit more advanced than other most linux distributions but I suggest if you are ready to install a linux OS on your system i would recommend that you install Fedora Core 4 it walks you through the installation and it also partitions the drive for you so it is a pretty simple distribution of linux but at the same time you get to know linux a little bit. By the way I do dual boot with Windows XP home edition the bootloader is called GRUB there is also another one which is called LILO but I think when you install FC 4 that should all be taken care of, Im running Gentoo linux with the Gnome Desktop manager but there are also other Desktop manager's in linux
  15. Yea... Is it just me or does anyone else think those speeds are uncapped, especially since comcast offers a max of 6MB/768K plan
