Thanks for the welcome. I have a Lite-on dvdrw shw-160p6s. I am doing various searches about this dvd drive but I can not find any solid information on whether or not dvd-r dl is supported. I do know that my stand alone dvd recorder model pioneer dvr-231 does not support recording to or playback. That sucks.

This might be a rookie question, but can anybody tell me if all dvd-r drive support dual layer recording?

Thank you. But, tell me, how much of an increase would I see with the upgrade, or would it be waste of a 1000 dollars? The main things i do is play graphically intensive games (offline) and I have a tv tuner that stays pretty busy. (Especially during football season)

You can see from my sig I have pretty much the same system, but from gateway, and i am totally pleased. Depending on what you are upgrading from, you should be happy with this setup. I paid 1975 ?? for mine without a monitor so the price is pretty comparable.

Depending on your wallet, I wouldn't get this nice of a computer without at least 2 Gigs of ram. I think it's only 140 dollars more.

Why would one prefer to install Linux over Windows? What are the benefits? I have heard of it but haven't researched or experienced it before.
