Too Bad the Hard Drive doesnt work :
I'm sure kol could do some damage to it.
-
Let the 8th graders from my old junior high on it... They'd play some internet games on it first, then they would go to ebaumsworld and click on all the ads.

1: No I have no extra settings added right now.
2: I meant VanBuren because he is awsome, his settings didn't help much but I realise he's pretty smart!
3: I have tried modifying the settings to what I could understand would help, but as usual, my internet speeds stay slow.
What browser are you using? Firefox is always pretty slow for me.

Where did you go kol?

You could also try chkdsk /r in recovery console, it may repair the errors on your drive.
Just boot to your WinXp Cd and go to recovery console, choose the OS you are having a problem with (usually you will only have the one) and press enter, then it will ask for ADMIN password, if you never had a password just leave blank and hit enter.
At the prompt TYPE :" chkdsk /r "and enter. itmay take a while.....good luck
I ran that a few times when my computer was working. It froze every time when it was on step 5 "cleaning up process" at 71 %.

one other thing you can try if you have important file is to boot into safemode.. and then do a restore to an earlier date..
I can't boot into safe mode, or else that would have been the first thing that I would have tried..

During the IDE Disk scan in the test, it found an error.
Error Code 0F00:0244.Msg: Block 55022221: Uncorrectable data error or media is write protected.
The given error code and message can be used by Dell Technical Support to help diagnose the problem.
I'm not going to talk to Dell Technical Support...

What's interesting is that I'm running a test for "cannot boot the OS" maybe it will come up with some kind of error and it will fix it... I hope so, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.
I needed to reformat anyway.
-
ohh......man u mite have to format
Another problem after another... my cd drive wont open unless I'm in windows and I open it manually from "my computer".
I'm probably going to have my dad take it to a shop and let them deal with it. At least my parents have another computer...

I'm running the Dell Diagnostic Utility Partition.
I received and error while running a test before that.
DST short Test:
Error code: 1000- 0146

im not very familiar with dell computers but try diagnostics
Well, I'm running some kind of test that is supposed to take up to an hour.
-
which one???? and wat did it say
I tried both.
When I press F2 it goes to a Dell Inspiron 1150 Series Setup page. It shows what BIOS version I have, but does not have anything else about BIOS on the "setup".
After pressing F12 it then goes to a manual boot page with the following choices:
Internal HDD
CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive
Cardbus NIC
Onboard NIC
Diagnostics

When I press F5 or F6, it does nothing.
I tried all the different types of safe modes, and I got this blue screen error :
STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum}
The image advapi32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum.
-
u go into bios and chang all settings 2 defualt
And how do I do that?
-
did u even touch ur bios settings???
I don't think so.
I did leave a flash drive in one of my usb ports when I shut down the pc, but I've done that before and I've never had this happen.

Okay, here's my problem:
I turned my computer off when I went to school today, and when I got home it wont boot windows. It gets the Windows XP loading screen, but wont go anywhere from there.
I can't get into safe mode either. And I have tried "last known good configuration" or whatever it is.
Is there anything else I can do without having to send it into a pro? Have I messed with my BIOS settings?

Yeah I've heard of Wild Blue, but something about it doesn't seem right. It's going to be just like Dway.

My DirecWay upload speed dumped to less than 26.6K dialup during the day.

IE's slower than Firefox for you? Wow.
If you haven't already, install these Firefox speed tweaks:

Now, make sure your cablenut settings are the right ones. Make sure you chose the right MTU, and type of account, because that can really slow you down.
Most likely your MTU is 1500, and I'm guessing that your running on the basic (consumer) account.

After you install the program and choose the correct settings (version 7 are above), press save to registry, and then restart your computer.
