  7. I don't have Norton installed on this partition, I use ZoneAlarm Pro and cleared the cache in Firefox both times before running the upload test. My download test are normal, but I can't run anymore uploads as a screen shows up telling me that my uploads exceed testmy.net's 90000kbps upload. TheHalf

  9. I have used Red Hat Linux and the only drawback was, that I had to boot into Red Hat with a floppy, fortunately there are dist. releases wherein you can boot right into Linux from the selective screen when you power-up your PC. Also The Fedora Project is the free descendant of Red Hat Linux. As most computer enthusiast know, you can have a lotta fun using Linux ( I personally use SuSE now). Here is a link to Linux you may want to take a look at: http://www.linuxiso.org/ TheHalf

  11. Have you tried running your AV software? Also if you or a friend have an external HDD back up what's most important to you on the xternal and do a reformat on the corrupted HDD. Remember reformatting is the last thing you want to do, personally I would do a system restore then run my AV software on a complete PC scan. TheHalf
  12. Yea that would be on the line of a Beavis & Butthead experiment or Jackass...''P.C. Experiments Gone Horribly Wrong'. On the other hand I was thinking about the liquid nitrogen idea and came across this link: http://www.meetmyattorney.com/slink/mt-archives/000275.html, interesting. TheHalf
  13. Sounds like your HDD is shot. Anytime I see an error code with 'msg:block' it's an indicator that there is physical damage to your HDD. Since you have a Dell and it's more likely an OEM OS, you can run your factory restore disk or you can go to Dell's website and look for a HDD utility that is strictly for HDD's in Dell computers and match that to the model you are using. If your still under warranty, order a replacement HDD and they'll (Dell) should send you a new HDD. TheHalf
