Flashmaster Posted December 27, 2005 CID Share Posted December 27, 2005 I hate road runner, I cant even host a game for more than 4 people, and even than it lags. I had Optimum Online back in New York and i could host a 12 person game in with no lag at all and the download speed was great! To bad now

i2d | ScruFFy | Posted December 28, 2005 CID Share Posted December 28, 2005 lol , cablenut doesn't do anything for you and hosting. All cablenut is to look good on spedtests , lol what a waste of a program,
Blunted 2 Posted December 28, 2005 CID Share Posted December 28, 2005 cablenut does exactly what its meant to do and hosting has nothing todo with upload if your isp is blocking you from hosting. your node must have alot of peoiple on it and in ny i would say it does. cdf216 Posted December 28, 2005 CID Share Posted December 28, 2005 his problem is that he has no idea how to set cablenut. From his post in the make it faster forum he was trying to use an ungodly 703488 RWIN, that's like trying to force the flow from a fire hydrant through a garden hose, no wonder he was haviing problems. I Posted the correct settings. there for him.

All cablenut is to look good on spedtests , lol what a waste of a program, Actually it does wonders for hosting, especially if you host a webserver as my roomie does off of our connection, Cablenut allows us to use our full upload speed where windows defaults only allow about 1.2 mbps. Big difference when people are trying to see the images on the site.

All cablenut is to look good on spedtests , lol what a waste of a program, That's odd, cause it works very well for me, and a bunch of other people I know... When adjusted right, my webpages and downloads are much faster...

Are you on a router? Can you provide a traceroute please?
cdf216 Posted December 30, 2005 CID Share Posted December 30, 2005 The OP's problem is he's limited by basic roadrunner's 384 upload. or even worse if he has Roadrunner lite limited by a 128 upload and only a 256 download. Those aren't designed to handle game servers. I'm sure I could host the same game with ease though

Blunted 2 Posted December 31, 2005 CID Share Posted December 31, 2005 in ny verizon fios is $55 for the 30 down and 5 up package but in other states its more lol. i bet its cause they have to compete with optimum's 2/30 package
