coknuck Posted January 4, 2006 CID Share Posted January 4, 2006 I have overclocked my Sempron. When it was stock the CPU ran 42c now it runs about 44-45c. this is after running all day. After first start in the morning it is 29c. I guess what I'm asking is this to hot?
disturbed Posted January 4, 2006 CID Share Posted January 4, 2006 42 isnt really hot - but is it worth overclocking that little ? Do you see a noticable increase in performance ?....no
richcornucopia Posted January 4, 2006 CID Share Posted January 4, 2006 It definitely could be cooler, I would suggest getting a new heatsink and fan if you are still using the stock one, or adding a fan to your case. No 45 is not too hot, but the hotter it is the less of a lifespan it will have.

I am starting with a Sempron 2400+
richcornucopia Posted January 4, 2006 CID Share Posted January 4, 2006 Semprons are pretty good for overclocking and they are reasonably cheap, so if you happen to fry it or overtime decrease its lifespan its not that big of a deal to replace as it would be to replace a x2 4400. Stank_Ho Posted January 4, 2006 CID Share Posted January 4, 2006 I have my alarm set to sound if my cpu temp hits 65c. Though I've never had it that high...yet.
