PioneerCrazed Posted January 5, 2006 CID Share Posted January 5, 2006 I just swapped my trusty D-Link DI-604 wired router for a Netgear WGT624. With the old router, or the modem hooked straight to PC I would get about 4.5mbps download. Now with thie Netgear using the 1 port wired to the pc, I get between 2-3mbps download. I think I have the latest firmware, because when I try to update its says it up to date. Is this normal? Thanks
FallowEarth Posted January 5, 2006 CID Share Posted January 5, 2006 Hey PioneerCrazed...a few questions for ya: are you using the same cables as before? Have you tried another port on the router? Are you NIC drivers updated? Is your NIC set to auto or 100base/full duplex? Have you tried powercycling? Can you provide a traceroute? I think we may be able to help you
compuworm Posted January 7, 2006 CID Share Posted January 7, 2006 Are you tweaking your tcp/ip connetion now using Vanburen's Cablenut files with the Cablenut program? Thanks, compuworm

I think we may be able to help you This is worse than a SAT test, haha. Alright let's start from the top. I'm using the same cables. I've tried a couple ports on the router. Just updated my NIC driver. It's set to auto. Have tried powercycling, and hard resetting. How can I do a traceroute? I'm not tweaking at this time, I don't really feel I should have to if the internet connection is fine without this router. Wireless is secured WPA-PSK Thanks, and lets figure this thing out. FallowEarth Posted January 8, 2006 CID Share Posted January 8, 2006 It's possible you can go back. Does the bottom label say a version number, ie. WGT624v2?

PioneerCrazed Posted January 8, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 8, 2006 I just tried the beta version and it has the same results. I'm now going to try the 3rd one down.
PioneerCrazed Posted January 8, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 8, 2006 Horse Crap! It's all doing the same thing. Slow!
FallowEarth Posted January 8, 2006 CID Share Posted January 8, 2006 Try a different cable b/w router and modem, and run another traceroute. As for firmware, I'd suggest using the latest version that's not beta. Just keep checking back until its out of beta, so all the bugs have been worked out.
