scrudder Posted January 6, 2006 CID Share Posted January 6, 2006 I have posted specifics below. I'm hoping someone could give me a clear direction to go in. All test were run without a firewall and connected directly to the modem. I have edited the registry and read the stickies. Used CableNut w/ VanBuren's settings, Dr.TCP, and TCP optimizer. I noticed that the signal to noise ratio is incredibly high, I can only assume that there should be a decimal? 34.7 dB instead of 347?? Results from cable modem stats: Downstream Value

disturbed Posted January 6, 2006 CID Share Posted January 6, 2006 just a wierd question: are you running the coaxial cable directly from the outlet to the modem, or you're going through a splitter ?
scrudder Posted January 6, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 6, 2006 just a wierd question: are you running the coaxial cable directly from the outlet to the modem, or you're going through a splitter ? Its a direct connection. Also, the machine has hitman pro run every other day to keep it free of spyware and viruses.
FallowEarth Posted January 6, 2006 CID Share Posted January 6, 2006 That trace is ugly. Does a powercycle make any difference? If not, I would call your ISP ASAP, as in do not pass go.
metallic82 Posted January 6, 2006 CID Share Posted January 6, 2006 If that is your own router, you ISP will likely want you on a direct connection, though I doubt that will change anything seeing as your hops to the router are fine. And I wouldn't worry about spyware, that should affect the results of a traceroute, like it might with a speed test
scrudder Posted January 6, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 6, 2006 I have not yet had a chance to call tech support, but while looking throught the Cox website I noticed that the modem I have now, and have had for over three years, is no longer on their list of supported modems. Is there a chance that the modem is the bottle neck?
FallowEarth Posted January 6, 2006 CID Share Posted January 6, 2006 Yeah, they'll probably send you a new one. Let us know how it goes.
