Mr. Hahn Posted December 8, 2004 CID Share Posted December 8, 2004 Who do you get service from? If we know that, we can look at the packages available on their website in relation to the amount you pay each month and find out your advertised speeds. RTB Posted December 8, 2004 CID Share Posted December 8, 2004 You'll need winXP for that neat trick, as well as an understanding of what VanBuren meant. I think it's called Select All in English. Then you can copy once before you have to click that option again.

DJVageli Posted December 8, 2004 CID Share Posted December 8, 2004 I think it shows u your connection to a specific place, in this case you were doing it to this site so what u saw was how congested your connection was to this site. Well thats what I think )
VanBuren Posted December 8, 2004 CID Share Posted December 8, 2004 a tracert shows what "road" you choose to travel on to reach a specific server. It display the latency (ping) to each router in the path, the router acts like crossroads. sometimes a router can be overloaded with traffic, then you will see the ping goes sky high, but you cant be 100% sure, cos sometimes routers deprior ICMP packets (packets used to measuse ping). I bet you can find a better explaination at google VanBuren
xs1 Posted December 8, 2004 CID Share Posted December 8, 2004 funny i heard it was reversed VanBuren cable speeds usualy dont drop too dramaticaly. no matter how many people are using it in your area... lol Like last night, the city's net went down for "maintinance" and i was one of the first reconnected..(according to the status ) . Took the speed test, got dl speed of 409 kb/s. After about an hour, when everyone was reconnected to the net, it was 399 lol. Drop there isnt that great :s http://www.high-speed-internet-access-guide.com/dsl-vs-cable.html
VanBuren Posted December 8, 2004 CID Share Posted December 8, 2004 yea your probl lucky that your ISP has alot of bandwidth at your area, and has not hooked up too many users on same node. quote "As a rule of thumb, DSL speeds will depend upon the actual distance your building is from the nearest central office of your ISP. For Cable Internet, connection speeds can be affected by the amount of Internet use in your particular neighborhood." I remember when i had cable internet, my speed was cut in half during peak hours VanBuren
