dn0 Posted January 27, 2006 CID Share Posted January 27, 2006 One recent firmware upgrade for the WRT54G is a fix for download speed issues. Check to see if you have the latest firmware: Linksys Updates Here Choose your model and hardware version from the drop down list. The updated firmware fixed a friends speed issue a couple weeks ago - he bought his router a month ago. Good luck - follow directions closely if you have not flashed a router before. Swimmer Posted January 27, 2006 CID Share Posted January 27, 2006 I think that might have been the wrt54gs that the new firmware release was for the stability of wireless clients... the 54g is pretty well into its life cycle.. so most of the updates are for extras. dn0 Posted January 28, 2006 CID Share Posted January 28, 2006 Thanks Swimmer - my buddie's router is the WRT54G hardware version 5.0. He was having issues with his PC staying connected and occasional erratic download speeds. It was always good when bypassing the router. We just assumed since he bought the router a couple weeks earlier that there would not be a firmware issue, but that was the whole issue. Updated from 1.00.2 (as it came from the store) to version 1.00.4 and he has had zero problems since. The latest version is 1.00.6 which does not say anything about D/L speed fix, but I found some older literature about the 1.00.4 download speed fix here: http://www.linksysinfo.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=452 revolucionario: Are you still having issues?
