x FiReMaN x Posted February 8, 2006 CID Share Posted February 8, 2006 I got a Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster from Linksys WRT54GSV4, with Firmware Version : v1.05.2. and let me tell you, it blows. When i use it wirelessly, my speed drops down to 200kB/s instead of the usual 1000+kB/s connection that i have direct connected. What can i do to fix this problem? The router is only about 4- 5 feet away with the atennaes pointing away from the computer, tried toward it and in every other direction. What can i do to fix thsi wireless problem or am i stuck with the worse wireless router ever created? Speed test Using router through ethernet: :::.. igarek77 Posted February 8, 2006 CID Share Posted February 8, 2006 Keep in mind that wireless connection won't be the same as if you were to connect directly. I have the same router and it delivers great performance, have you tried to re-set it as if you just got it and set it up again. Also, try to get the latest firmware for wireless adaptor that's in your PC (unless of course it's a Wireles Enabled Notebook). I've encountered the same problem once or twice with a friends computer with the same router, I just re-set everything and configured it from scratch.....hope this helps. rajmarie Posted February 8, 2006 CID Share Posted February 8, 2006 remember also that since ur using wireless.....disturbance from cordless etc can also effect the speed. Try using channel 1,6,11 in ur router, and then do speed test again. Offcourse....head over to linksys site for latest firmware update 1st and then anything else. compuworm Posted February 9, 2006 CID Share Posted February 9, 2006 When is the last time you updated your nic drivers? U running at 10 or 100 full duplex. Also, to increase your range try the 7 gain linksys antennas. Also, for some good info on linksys routers go to the link below: http://www.linksysinfo.org/
