disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 I can go up to 11 x 274 = 3Ghz - ram will still be in 1T and in 1:1 with the cpu - that will require me to push my vcore up to 1.59V, with full load temps @ 37c - The wierd thing is that I cannot get it fully stable - I can prime it for about 10 hours, which could be considered stable, but anywhere from 10-12 hrs of running prime - it will crash
richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 I've pretty much narrowed my limitations down to my ram. While I can get to 274 I'm not stable, but then again im not even stable at stock speeds, damn you value ram.
disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 hehehe lol - ....my ram can take it, i know that for a fact becuse when I was testing the components seperately I was able to take ram up to 315FSB - and thats going from a stock 200FSB chip ! - I love ocz ram ! - I know that 1.59 volts is limiting me - I really do not wanna go any higher than that though
richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 What kind of temperatures do you get when its up to 274?
disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 Full load 36-38c - idle
richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 Hmmm I was looking over my voltage values and found cpu core 1.58 2.5 1.14 3.3 3.33 12 11.78 Shouldn't that 2.5 be alittle closer than 1.14? Or is that not a problem?
disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 definitely - unless software is reporting the wrong value
richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 Would this be related to me being unstable? I know very little about power supplies but I've been thinking of getting a new one, it would be great if my current power supply turns out to be the problem. disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 It might be - what is the 2.5V used for ? ...my guess is ram, since the 3.3V rail in this case isnt used for it
disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 ...i might be wrong, but it think its used for the ram
richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 That would make since cause im stable, for awhile cause i havent let it run long, when i do the prime95 test that tests very little ram. So maybe more power supply isnt able to provide my ram with enough volts, or my cpu cause i think its getting less than it should.
disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 Can you check that value in bios ? - And if its undervolted, can you put it up to spec ?
richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 When I go into pc health stats in the bios it gives me this cpu core 1.58 (I have the voltage at 1.65) 3.3v 3.32 5.0v 5.02 12.0v 11.71 vdimm 2.6v ht voltage 1.34v and some other stuff
disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 those voltages seem within the acceptable range - I mean, you could make sure by measuring the voltage with a dmm at different points, for example: post, system starting up, system idle, full load - that will give you a very accurate reading of whats happening
disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 which opteron do you have, and do you know the stepping ?
richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 My motherboard has memtest86 built in so Im running that and its getting all kinds of errors . 148 and its cacje I cant remember the week. I'm up to over 32000 errors so I'm going to cancel and try the memory and cpu at stock settings. Not even 30 seconds into it on stock at over 3000 errors, should I get new ram? disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 well from what ive heard that opty stepping is supposed to be one of the good ones - ....something might be holding you back....maybe the ram
richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 What do the errors in memtest mean, or is it normal to get errors?
disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 No....its not normal to get errors - usually if you get errors in memtest it means you need to fiddle around with memory timmings/settings untill you pass the necessary tests
richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 So its normal to get errors when the ram is on stock settings?
disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 oh no - if they are stock settings something is wrong then - very wrong

richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 Mushkin value ram. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146299 Right now I only have one stick in because I was seeing if it made a difference, guess not. disturbed Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 Even at 3-3-3-8 it isn't error free when running memtest !? - How about when u run your cpu at stock speeds - can you run 1:1 without errors ? - i assume that with 270mhz you are running now, you are running it on a divider
richcornucopia Posted February 19, 2006 CID Share Posted February 19, 2006 With 274 I had it at 133 divider 3-3-3-8 and errors. With both the cpu and ram at stock I still get errors. I'll try it will cpu at stock and ram at 3-3-3-8. With cpu stock at ram at 3-3-3-8 still errors .
