splnut Posted June 22, 2006 CID Share Posted June 22, 2006 are your speeds the same without the router? bounty1990 although those are pretty good speeds
bounty1990 Posted June 23, 2006 CID Share Posted June 23, 2006 I mean I got better speeds with my old modem but the new one has so many caps one it that its not funny. I cant even see stats from the new modem cause they have it locked. The router just gets laggy at times but the speed difference is usually only about 50k. splnut Posted June 29, 2006 CID Share Posted June 29, 2006 How do you find out information like how many people are on a node, and where the line ends? you would be able to find out how many people are on your node but not where it ends. that would be a queestion for a service tech
Rlanham Posted June 29, 2006 CID Share Posted June 29, 2006 You are lucky if you get the 6 Mbps on a 4 MB package. I live in IL and they just merged to the Sprint Network. They atleast provided me with a new cable modem(WEBSTAR I believe). Now I cant pull over 3.8 mb although sicne the switch the internet is so much more reliable. I just want my 4.5 Mbps back that I used to have. I Have you used TCP optimizer?. Download it, set it for 4500K, ( be sure to select the ethernet port that your modem is connected from the dropdown and reboot. I was in the same boat til I used the program, and now I am consistently around 400-4500K 575kbs and avg 15-20% than avg insightbb customer. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/TCP-Optimizer.shtml :::.. Swimmer Posted August 4, 2006 CID Share Posted August 4, 2006 How are you all getting that great upload and download speeds? I have insightbb and recently went to Vonage and all my calls are garbled going out. I can hear them fine. Tech said that my upload speed sucked. It is your upload speed.. depending on what else you computer is doing and the lag on the node call all affect vonage. not only that but some, not all, ISPs are QoSing their networks to make it so that vonage doenst work all that well.. most of the time it is the same companies that offer phone service. Some things to try.. if you are using a router try setting up QoS on you LAN.. make Vonage traffic the highest priority.. And http lower than that.. Also while you are on the phone try an minimize the web surfing.. that should help the call quality..
