tommie gorman Posted March 30, 2006 CID Share Posted March 30, 2006 Hey goldeneyes, try the first post in this thread: http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1703 and I am not too technical either. It will give you your premade settings. TCPOptimizer.zip which is over the box attachment. Just follow it to the letter. It works for well for some Satelite connections, at least for me. And I am also on the 6000.

Guest thecableguy Posted March 31, 2006 CID Share Posted March 31, 2006 Excuse me...but my previous post here was meant for another thread...my apologies for the cross post....but...since I am here lemme post.... Before you consider ANY provider of satellite internet (especially satellite) please consider the customer service and overall performance history all of the candidates. DirecWay has a poor to very poor overall rating across the board if you search most of the forums, especially if you factor in benefits for cost of service. Now there are exceptions but if you ask most of your fellow DirecWay users they will say....hey it sucks but I have no choices...I'm top heavy in equipment investment and yes...up until last year you had no choices.....BUT YOU DO NOW....and not only are these alternatives hungry for your money, they have already demonstrated a much stronger love for the customer. Right now WildBlue is offering free installation and in their short few months they have a substantially better customer relationship record.....from a performance perspective they also seem to be holding their own. If DirecWay cannot get its act together and get you better service them dump em and get a provider who will. Your existing DirecWay system will fetch (on eBay) more than the cost of the equipment to get you into a new provider and you will probably have no regrets. DirecWay has been the bast^rd child of Hughes since day one and there appear to be no changes in the company to reflect a different direction. Also consider this....whenever Hughes feels like it they can say your equipment is obsolete forcing you to invest yet another full equipment purchase and installation costs (just ask the Dw4000 owners).....this is a nasty trend in the industry and staying with a company that behaves in this manner is not smart. The last company to pull a stunt like this was General Instruments (in the satellite cable industry).....and for all intents it destroyed the home satellite cable industry (not to mention many small time satellite dealers) for a long time after and opened the door wide open to companies like DirecTV and DishNetwork....for some strange reason....satellite service providers seem to think that all of their subscribers are rolling in cash.....if a cable company all of sudden told their customers that their boxes were no longer gonna be any good AND they would have to buy at full price a replacement box you can be sure that cable company would cease to exist in a heartbeat.....why should the consumer treat Hughes any differently...... Good luck on YOUR search....but as for investing any more money than you already have in DirecWay....given those stats and your past history (per your posts) in dealing with them.....I wouldn't do it....there are many others out there who will appreciate your business more and will probably serve you better.... tommie gorman Posted April 1, 2006 CID Share Posted April 1, 2006 Yeah, payments were little more than cash out, so it seemed to make sense. But only a few months more.
