CaptainSauce Posted April 15, 2006 CID Share Posted April 15, 2006 I moved to my grandparents and now im not connected straight to my modem anymore. Im using a Linksys Wireless G router with Speed booster... The router is on my grandmas computer and i have the network card. Back at home i was getting close to 200 Kbps a second download (when it was the westel moden right into my comp) and now im this... :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 721 Kbps about 0.72 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 88 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/04/15 - 1:30pm Bottom Line:: 13X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 11.64 sec Tested from a 386 kB file and took 4.39 seconds to complete Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 14.05 % of your hosts average (verizon.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-X5E6BLVOQ that really REALLY upsets me... am i to expect this or are there some things i can do to tweek// settings to change to boost that performance. Im not going to be very satisified with that.

Swimmer Posted May 1, 2006 CID Share Posted May 1, 2006 look for new drivers... Also that speed, as php said, might be what you get.. verizon offer a 768 package for DSL.. do to the limited roll out of FIOS that is what I would guess you have. Not a whole lot to do as far as speed goes..
tommie gorman Posted May 2, 2006 CID Share Posted May 2, 2006 Try it without the router, to see if it might be the problem.
