Hey,

I have Cable speed direct connect from my modem to my PC, and ive got this horrible Download speed. Which shouldn't be happening, i tested better a while back but even that wasn't normal for Cable speed. i've got Winxp and heres my most recent test results,

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 156 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 386 KB)

Download Speed is:: 19 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Bottom Line:: 3 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 53.89 second(s)

Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=EGF5VAWPS

I can't seem to figure out what the problem is, Any suggestions on anything would be a great help

this is asking the obvious but one never knows, you arent running a p2p client in the background or any such thing, streaming video or whatever?

just asking because that's the last thing besides a major bork on your isp or in the cable that could cause your speed to be so horrifically low.

one other thing you can do is make sure all the connections are firmly seated. if there is any splices at your house in the cable check those. has the cable gotten pinched somewhere?

oh, most important, have you ever reached your advertised speed?

if so, what has changed in and around your comp or the cable since then?

havent heard of that being a problem with cable, but maybe disconnecting tv cable receivers, if any. might be interfering with your signal. but unlikely?

otherwise i agree with vageli. call them.

hey Mad_iolo and welcome to the forum :)

you have some retransmissions and can be a problem to get speed, however i suggest you try this first

install cablenut 4.08 https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=64 [testmy.net]

download this settings https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=101 [testmy.net]

after you installed cablenut, unzip the settings to C:ProgramCablenut

open cablenut adjuster, in top left corner click file, click load custom settings file

browse to C:ProgramCablenutvanburens_cablenut_settings_version_2VanBurens cablenut settings Version 2WinXP_2K_CABLE_DSLMSS1460

dubble click on  Cable & DSL 3000 384

now click save to registry and reboot your pc

good luck

VanBuren :)

I know, ive never seen someone capped at 3Mbps down have a speed that low,thats why im thinking maybe its his ISP.

Mad_iolo have u contacted them and told them about this problem?

:( I agree I don't think he has a tweaking issue that can be resolved, it looks like his ISP has caused a major malfunction, I don't even think I have seen scum-ware slow anyone down this much. I'm interested 2c if VanBuren tweak helps at all, but with all the re-transmits I don't think so.....but we will see  :(
