bosanacc Posted July 8, 2006 CID Share Posted July 8, 2006 Oh come on JKAT, what are you crapping on us? I just posted a speed that looks that way, and it turns out that was just a cached test. Maybe it's the same with you, are you sure you're not doing something wrong? With Comcast, that speed is impossible to get unless you've uncapped your modem or something, which of course would end up you getting your Internet Access suspended. jakindle Posted July 16, 2006 CID Share Posted July 16, 2006 ok talking with a couple tech buddies here in the north bay in select areas they are testing the power boost thing ie windsor, petaluma and areas on the same back bone like where i live in forestville according to them they have only seen it with people on the speed tier ie 8mb down service they also said in the rumor mill at work the powerboosting will become the actual speeds youll get always but only in select areas where the market deems it necessary like here in the north bay they are tring to squeeze out verizon and sbc/att dsl market to make people want to switch so i asked him what would my speed go to ..... he said well the reason why they are testing the power boosting item is to see what size file people are downloading and if you dont exceed their bandwidth cap that is set and the tech said he doesnt even know what it is then the bump in speed would be a constant 16/1 mb he also stated that if your a bandwidth whore not only will it not bump up but you'll get your peepee slapped with one of those letters i asked him to guess what he figured and he related to past service calls why the customer that called and he shows up at their house they had 400 gig downloaded in a months time for 3 months it exceeded 1200gig turned out in that particular case the guy owned a business and had only the 6mb homeowner flavor switch to the business class and no issues so i guess to sum it all up it set markets here on the west coast the power boost thing will become permanent and other will be a boost thing as for the bay area unofficially from him by 2007 speed tier client should expect 16/1 woohoo also this is weird :::..
