tommie gorman Posted August 11, 2006 CID Share Posted August 11, 2006 Apppreciate the heads up there user00265. If what you fellas say is true, it sounds like DSLXtremo did you all a favor anyway. It apparently was not worth being in anyway. And was bound to die. I'd rather be in the lifeboat before the boat sinks. Thanks for the visit, you are always welcome. DSLXtremo also. DiRt DeViL Posted August 11, 2006 CID Share Posted August 11, 2006 Tommie, you're right he did us a favor indeed; that community was dying anyway. I didn't wanted to fuel the fire but did wanted to make sure that people who reads this thread know what really happened. Thanks for the welcome and hope to be able to participate actively here. jesusmta Posted August 18, 2006 Author CID Share Posted August 18, 2006 Well, i'm using cablenut408 and TCPOptimizer!!!!!!
user00265 Posted August 18, 2006 CID Share Posted August 18, 2006 You must be very close to the central office to get such speeds. PRTC caps their speeds at exactly the advertised speed, they don't compensate. So I'll just attribute those extra 123kbps to a burst on your internet speed, even though, I have my doubts. user00265 Posted April 20, 2007 CID Share Posted April 20, 2007 As a DMAX/PRTC customer you should be used to this yearly crap. They have some internal routing problems they don't even know where to fix, as it happens after the last hop from them, but from outside to the island happens on the hops in here, not where it starts for us to outside. I'm personally packing going with PRW as ISP using PRTC's lines. Heard there's no lag on their systems, we'll see.
highlanderc Posted August 3, 2007 CID Share Posted August 3, 2007 Well... finally we have some competition and the customer is getting what they payed for... 5mbit from dmax and 512kb for 24.95. Sounds good... I still think that onelink is ahead because: Although Onelink has 4.4mbit... you get 100% bandwidth capacity, where as with dmax you get 80% That means 550kb/s with dmax more or less sustained vs 535kb/s sustained for onelink... onelink is cheaper... 30/month cheaper AND you do not need a phone line with all teh stupid fees. Him Posted August 4, 2007 CID Share Posted August 4, 2007 Yes Highlander, but quite possibly you don't know, that starting in August OneLink is CAPPING the download to 40GB and upload to 10GB, PER month. I am switching to Dmax next week, that cap is pathetic and needless.
highlanderc Posted August 4, 2007 CID Share Posted August 4, 2007 impossible.. that is totally ridiculous.. where did you hear this? i am quite sure many people will complain
tommie gorman Posted August 4, 2007 CID Share Posted August 4, 2007 impossible.. that is totally ridiculous.. where did you hear this? i am quite sure many people will complain According to what is heard here alot. Nothing new there. It's all about profits.
highlanderc Posted August 4, 2007 CID Share Posted August 4, 2007 every business is about profits... but from that to mistreating your customers is another story.. look what happened to DMAX and how they lost that many customers.. When i was working there, at least they wanted to change a bit the situation, but they still had the attitude of: for every one we loose we will gain 4... They didn't want to raise the speeds, nor they wanted to do ANYTHING about it.... So what has happened.. they had to add 2mbit.. when they saw it wasn't enough... now they are giving 5mbit.. same thing will happen to craplink if they continue with this issue... If they are having problems with the additional services, get more backbones... not limit your customers. The internet is a service and its like saying.. The electric company is going to limit you to 425kw / month... You can only oversub so much.

Him Posted August 4, 2007 CID Share Posted August 4, 2007 Sure. Its in Spanish: (e) Capacidades de Manejo de Tráfico. All they say is that they will throttle the bandwidth and will put caps or 'quotes' on what amount of bandwidth you can use. "Insiders" say the cap is 40GB DL and 10GB Upload, and some accounts have been banned so far.
resopalrabotnick Posted August 4, 2007 CID Share Posted August 4, 2007 of course it says /that/. but afaik it's always said it. if you get pegged by that article then you've got your box on 24/7 leeching anything that ain't up the tree by the count of three. that says nothing about a general monthly quota etc. that says that if you dl too much then they will take a look at your traffics behaviour. when they do that and find that you are constantly dl'ing, then they'll cap ya. Him Posted August 6, 2007 CID Share Posted August 6, 2007 Here is the confirmation: * The Commercial account has a 60GB cap though, and they raised the price up a bit. Bah, freaking Broadband disaster here in Puerto Rico...
highlanderc Posted August 6, 2007 CID Share Posted August 6, 2007 Then what they have to do is this... whatever you consume LESS than 40gb they will CREDIT your account... how about that??? Things in Puerto Rico are always ONE sided... If people don't stand up... You will get busted.
