datatechnician Posted September 4, 2006 CID Share Posted September 4, 2006 Have you tried tweaking it yet datatechnician? I haven't done any tweaks on this machine. It is running SuSe Linux 10.0 .(The one I use the Most) I do use two other computers that run 2000pro. however speed results using either the Linux machine or any of the windows 2000 computers yield the same results. The Windows Computers all have Prolands Protector Plus Antivirus program and Adaware. All have been scanned (yesterday) and all is clean. tommie gorman Posted September 4, 2006 CID Share Posted September 4, 2006 Try reading here. I suggest the TCP Optimizer as it is much easier to navigate ( it was my choice ). And the Optimizer works well for satelite. But if you feel up to it most on this forum use cablenut. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013 Wow just woke up, and I just realized I posted the same as earlier. dotdog14 Posted September 6, 2006 CID Share Posted September 6, 2006 I want to share with the group what HughesNet techs are telling me are acceptable speeds. I've gone through my computer with a fine tooth comb. No problems here. Speeds in the early AM run in the very high 900s. Twelve hours later the connection is about useless. These speeds are the similar on any of my three computers. Speed tests are done with only one computer online. Suggestions or information would be appreciated. :::.. tommie gorman Posted September 6, 2006 CID Share Posted September 6, 2006 Welcome to the forum dotdog14 Pretty much normal for a satelite connection, except the speed being so low as 91kbps. That is a little low, I usually don't go below about 385 kbps. Have you tweaked it as of yet? http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013 I prefer the TCP Optimizer myself. It might help. datatechnician Posted September 6, 2006 CID Share Posted September 6, 2006 Have you tried tweaking it yet datatechnician? I've tried some Linux tweaks on this machine (SuSe Linux) awhile back and I really didn't notice anything different. I again contacted Hughes support and engineering is supposed to call me back. I've already had one call back from engineering. If they call again I am asking for a transponder change as it is evident G-11 1370 has some serious issues. I have spoken with others on G-11 1370 and there speeds are dismal like mine.
tommie gorman Posted September 7, 2006 CID Share Posted September 7, 2006 datatechnician would you read this. It is a TCP Optimizer, it may increase your speeds. The Keeper Posted October 1, 2006 CID Share Posted October 1, 2006 I have the Direcway 6000 and just received E-Mail to upgrade my 6000 to the HN7000S for $49.95. I want to know if it is worth making the upgrade? I don't believe anything Hughes.Net tells me. Thanks for any help. The Keeper
The Keeper Posted October 1, 2006 CID Share Posted October 1, 2006 I have the 6000. Would it be faster with the 7000. Received an E-Mail from Hughes.net that the upgrade is $49.95 but I don't know if it is worth the change. I am new to the forum and would appreciate any information regarding the 7000 I tested my download speed at www.testmy.net. I got 1394 Kbps or 170 kB/s (I tested with a 2992 kB file). If you don't believe me you can go to testmy.net and validate the score. https://testmy.net/5CDGSYOP2 ! This email was sent to you by your friend The Keeper, from a web based form on testmy.net. Go to testmy.net and see if your download speed can come close to 1394 Kbps. Hey, you may even be faster than The Keeper... then it will be your turn to brag

The only reason they want your site id, I think is because they show your current plan so you can compare it to what they have now.
