Sparticus Posted October 9, 2006 CID Share Posted October 9, 2006 Does it really benefit you that much to but a gaming router?
Ryan314 Posted October 9, 2006 CID Share Posted October 9, 2006 i could be wrong but i think the gaming router is basically designed to forward the right ports or something for gaming. Idk thats what someone told me. Im sure someone else here can give you the correct answer though.

Swimmer Posted October 9, 2006 CID Share Posted October 9, 2006 Any router can be a gaming router.. It all depends on how you have it set up... That dlink router is setup to give games priority over all other network traffic.. This can be done with any router that support QoS.. As far as opening port it might do that automatically but I would see that as a security risk more than a benfit. It also might have a more powerful processor onboard to allow it to process packets and route them quicker than a normal router. With that being said... there are quite a few people with that router on these forums and I think ever single one swears by it..
Sparticus Posted October 12, 2006 Author CID Share Posted October 12, 2006 I just found out my router has QoS. Can someone help me set it up for Halo 2 xbox live?

REV0LUTI0NIZED Posted October 13, 2006 CID Share Posted October 13, 2006 Port forward 3074 UDP & TCP, 88 UDP only.
FallowEarth Posted October 16, 2006 CID Share Posted October 16, 2006 You may even be interested in hosting the DMZ on the XBox. This way, you will not have to worry about which ports to forward.
Swimmer Posted October 16, 2006 CID Share Posted October 16, 2006 ^ best idea.. however if you router has a gaming feature it should automatically take care of all routing.
dlewis23 Posted October 17, 2006 CID Share Posted October 17, 2006 one thing to keep in mind gaming routers only make a difference if you or someone else is downloading or uploading a file at the same time while you are playing a game online. so if dont plan on downloadinguploading files or have more then 1 person online at the same time then you really dont need a gaming router.
