Wireless Router Tip... for a cleaner connection

wow, cool..... this isn't my fastest score... but it's my fastest score on the wireless on my laptop.  I surprised that I was able to max out my connection, usually wireless runs quite a bit slower than the wired..... at least that's what I see everyone else having.  :-P --

I guess i just get a nice clean connection in my house, I guess having my router mounted at ceiling height makes the difference (I have a data closet at my house and the top shelf is about 10 inches from touching the ceiling.  I was recently in California at a friends house for a couple of weeks and he had his router (same router I have) litterally on the floor.  My connection dropped all the time and it was constantly having problems, pings were all over the place (they were like 52ms, 38ms, 460ms, 190ms, 39ms, 380ms -- it was crazy).

So, if you have a wireless router I highly reccomend installing it as high up as you can.  In fact, it's not a bad idea to mount it litterally to the ceiling.  I've seen this done at some businesses (again.. with my same router.. lol).  it really makes a difference.  - just a heads up

MJFSOL try reading here.

And after it is clean try reading here. The TCP Optimizer is the easiest one to figure out. It actually gave me my bast speeds. And the cablenut is there if you want to play around a bit.

Then post back the improved speeds, or any problems you might have encountered.  ;)

MJFSOL you are running a  2460 Kbps on a 5 Mbps connection speed over wireless. Are you in the USA :?:  What type of connection is it anyway. Wireless internet besides the wireless router??

Anyway that would appear slower than necessary. I wouold think it should be much faster.

yes im in the usa....NC to be xact.....

the main comp is hardwired...but the other isnt ...using linksys wireless B

as of this morning the speeds are a little faster...although not much...

ill tweak a bit more then post the results....

thanx
