The Reverend Posted January 17, 2005 CID Share Posted January 17, 2005 Attention everyone please, New numbers from NOC arrived by fax very early this morning, I did some math and decided to try a theory (a WILD one) that I've been pondering over. RTB Posted January 17, 2005 CID Share Posted January 17, 2005 What did DWay do when they noticed you learned how to get the proper speed? I doubt they like that fact.
The Reverend Posted January 17, 2005 Author CID Share Posted January 17, 2005 I believe I oould hear them entering the info I was giving them on how I did it, but not to make it so that nobody else could do it, believe it or not the "main man" on Level II Support wanted to know how this was mathematically computed so that they could reprogramme their machines in the same manner, because nobody has come up with actual working algorithms since the DW6000 was released. So, to the contrary, it appears that this may actually GIVE us more speed over and above since they are going to use the very same to give THEIR COMPUTERS faster access to their birds.....and if they go faster, we go faster. Simple. I just got six month of free usage for that one Troll Guy. This must be my lucky week or maybe I am just holding my mouth right for a change? Pretty cool no matter how ya look at it. At least they didn't chop my speed the instant I hung up, and I have proof positive on them now, so they are trapped if they are not on the "up and up." But it appears they were being honest once again, and that much is good! THe Reverend

MICROWAVE Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 Interesting because of all the tweaks I have tried TCP Optimizer works the best for me also, I'm just wondering if this is just a fluke for you two users or if in fact this will continue to allow you to get the speeds you pay for?? Could this be called an epiphany ?

YooperLady Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 WOW xmechanic!! Well, at least now I don't feel sooooooooooo alone. lol It has been bad here most of the day, even with all the tweaks the Rev has given me. Don't know why it drops so bad as I was over 1100 Kbps this morning, and just kept dropping after 1:00 p.m. I sure know it does suck when you are trying to do things online though. Hopefully they get it ALL FIXED soon for all of us.
lance49726 Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 Nothing wrong here just a little slower than normal. On SatMex5-1250 DW4000. I love the my 4000 :::.. YooperLady Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 lance are you teasing us?? lol Boy I am so darn tempted to go BACK to my 4000, which I can with no problem, I didn't BUY the 15 month contract when I upgraded to the 6000. Figured the 100.00 bucks I would save may not be in MY best interrest. lol I still have the modems, and they are in fine working conditions, only went to the 6000, so my computer could be shut down when my son wants to be online, networks grrrrrr. Maybe wasn't such a great idea. Glad to hear you are having great speeds though lance, someone should. lol
The Reverend Posted January 18, 2005 Author CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 Latest info is that SatMex5 and the DW4000's are not getting along so well, but this should resolve as the night wears on. That is all I have at the minute. Please set your machines to the above posted parameters and WELD THE SUCKERS there. The more we have using that setup the less problems they can cause us by trying to reduce available bandwidth. You see, it is all about money. If they can keep you crawling like a damned snail then they will. So please keep those settings and ride it out until I finish 'hacking a hole' into them ...after all, what is good for the goose is good for the gander, and I also have my cousin at NOC coming online at 10PM EST ....things will start hopping then because I am getting tired of their silly-assed money games. We are paying for certain speeds, and we are going to GET those speeds come hell or high water. LANCE....at the top of the forum you'll find a Star Band user in trouble ....Please please please see what you can learn as I am ignorant on how Starband operates or the state of their equipment at the moment. Thanks!

lance49726 Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 Yooperlady I thought you had to return the 4000 when you upgraded to the 6000 ,well i guess not.I seen in here that your from curtis been there a few times . I live on Drummond Island so not all that far apart. I see you have a resort at curtis i just got out of the resort business here, fishing gone to hell. YooperLady Posted January 18, 2005 CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 Hi lance!! I dunno, I guess they felt sorry for me, as when I upgraded they told me just to keep the 4000 modems. Was a good thing I did too!!! The 6000 they sent me didn't work!! What a mess that was, had to cancel that account, make a new one to use the 4000 again. ect etc. Took a couple weeks for them to send the NEW 6000, which now does work, but as you can tell I get a lot of loss of speed. So far this morning it is running at 1100 Kbps, so waiting for it to start dropping. Rev sent me something to try, so when it starts dropping I am gonna give that a shot, and if it still is droppig, then I am gonna ring DirecWays neck. The Reverend Posted January 18, 2005 Author CID Share Posted January 18, 2005 Good! Then that is precisely your best settings. You see, I reprogrammed that utility for use with satelllites, so you have the best numbers for your configuration Sorry so late with a reply. I am just swamped here.!!!!!!!!!!!! wow!!! The Rev It should do you good, let me know if you are not getting good speeds after business hours...Right now things will gradually slow down until about 4 then start moving back up. By 8PM full speed is availab.e (plus work is being done on your server so it is kinda "cramped" in there right now, but not toooo bad.
