coknuck Posted December 3, 2006 CID Share Posted December 3, 2006 Mastermind, Welcome to the forum. No that is not normal. I looked at your speed records and you have a lot of over speed test. Some times firewalls will mess with this, Have you tried tacking a test with it disabled? Have you cleaned your Temporary Internet Files? Also when was the last time you cleaned your computer? Mastermind Posted December 3, 2006 Author CID Share Posted December 3, 2006 Mastermind, Welcome to the forum. No that is not normal. I looked at your speed records and you have a lot of over speed test. Some times firewalls will mess with this, Have you tried tacking a test with it disabled? Have you cleaned your Temporary Internet Files? Also when was the last time you cleaned your computer? Thanks! ... lol ~ I thought Comcast might have hooked me right into the backbone. I figured out my speed is ranging from an average of 40 mbps to 80 mbps ... I'm using the TCP optimizer to see if I get any faster speeds. It seems to be working, although my connection seems to be very inconsistent. I brought the RWIN value up to 858000 and I'm not losing any packets. If you have any other tips for me that would be great, and thanks for providing such a great resource site. ~ Regards
tommie gorman Posted December 3, 2006 CID Share Posted December 3, 2006 That would've made VanBuren jealous. That ain't no lie. Knock him off of his pedestal. He would be calling his ISP. Just a dumb one, but like coknuck said, do you run a clean comp? And you do clean out your temp files before testing? http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-4257

Just a dumb one, but like coknuck said, do you run a clean comp? And you do clean out your temp files before testing? http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-4257 ... I clear all my temp files on a regular basis (sometimes several times a day). I haven't had any odd-ball results since those first few tests. Now I just need to figure out how to get the 80 Mbps that I'm supposed too consistently. ~
Buntz Posted December 3, 2006 CID Share Posted December 3, 2006 Comcast is always inconsistent . Every time a check I get a different speed. Anywhere from 4000 to 8400 on download speed[ depends on the time of day]. Upload speed stay pretty good at 729 to 758. I am on the 768/8000. I also use Avast anti-virus which will slow down my speed sometimes.
tommie gorman Posted December 3, 2006 CID Share Posted December 3, 2006 You might try tweaking it with cablenut. I would suggest the TCP Optimizer but it appears to top out at 20,000. And you are way past that. Cablenut. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013 Not only does it help you get up to, it also helps make it more consistent. Also welcome to the forum Mastermind

tommie gorman Posted December 3, 2006 CID Share Posted December 3, 2006 If you would like to try a larger test Mastermind, try this one. Clear your temp files before testing. The 20 mb test. http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/d_load.php?&st=st&tt=1&ta=1&top=000&out_src=20MB Or try the 100MB test. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-16363 With that connection that shouldbe fun.
