thequickness Posted December 13, 2006 CID Share Posted December 13, 2006 Hey guys, I've posted here before but I couldnt remember my old password and email I use...ehehe but hey I need a little help with tweaking my internet. I have Time Warner Cable which used to be Adelphia. I was wonder how do I find out my advertised speeds so I could possibly choose the correct Van Beurens cablenut setting? Ive tried using some presets with cable nut but my speed is very low compared to typical cable speeds. A few months ago I was getting great speed, about 20% more or up to par with typical cable connections, but after I reformatted my computer I lost everything. So I was wondeirng if anyone could give me some suggestions to boost my internet speed, thanks! :::.. Shug7272 Posted December 13, 2006 CID Share Posted December 13, 2006 If I had to guess I would say your cap is about 4 Mbps, you could call your isp and ask them or look on a bill. I dont know much about Cablenut but I like TCPoptimizer. Heres the link. Welcome back, if you can remember anything about your old screen name let me know and I will reset your PW for you. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;attach=21260
thequickness Posted December 14, 2006 Author CID Share Posted December 14, 2006 Thanks, man. I have TCPoptimizer too but I'm not exacly sure what settings I should use with that. I tried searching all over the net for the advertised speeds for my internet and then searching for TCPoptimizer settings on various forums that comply with my connection, but no go. Is there any specific settings you can recommend? I am also connected through a linksys wireless router.
tommie gorman Posted December 14, 2006 CID Share Posted December 14, 2006 Welcome to the forum again thequickness You did just come back. On the TCP Optimizer just slide the dial back and forth for different choices. Try like a 1000 apart for starters and work back and forth from there. Like 4000, reboot and trys speed test. Then try 5000 and so forth. It will start improving in there somewhere. So really you don't need to know your speeds. Just play around. In fact coknuck reported slower setting helped him once. You never know. So just play around a little bit. When it starts getting worse, go in between the other settings.
