Does anyone else have a problem with a Java applet taking a long time to load up?

For example, a weather radar map using java.

when I choose the looping image, the browser (both FF and IE) locks up for sometimes up to 1 minute or so.

This is annoying.

It even does it when running a speedtest with one of the NDT server's (most use Java).

Here's a couple examples:

http://nitro.ucsc.edu/

http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=ILX&product=NCR&overlay=11101111&loop=yes

Now once a an applet has been loaded from one page, it will be OK for a couple hours.

I tend to avoid an Java apps because of this issue. maybe I'm being a little petty.

PC = P4 2.52GHz / 1Ghz RAM.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I have un-installed and re-installed both FF and Java, updated IE, etc..

Thanks, Sparticus, I think you're on to something.

I almost always have the TV up on my ATI All in Wonder Radeon (I know, it's a little out dated) when I am at the computer.

It loads up quicker with that off.

I will try looking for newer drivers for the video, if any exist.

No problem, let us know how those drivers work out.  :grin2:
