ghostmaster Posted January 23, 2007 CID Share Posted January 23, 2007 Never use the smart test with a sat connection. Always use the 2992KB file for downloads and the 579KB file for uploads to get accurate results.. I assume that price is in Austrailian currency? tommie gorman Posted January 23, 2007 CID Share Posted January 23, 2007 Well that definately shows a good U/L then. Sorry I could not find a good D/L for you. How close is the Netherlands to you. It is a both D/L and U/L mirror.
tricsigns Posted January 23, 2007 Author CID Share Posted January 23, 2007 so whats the deal then is there a way to help speeds... or a program that can optimize?javascript:void(0);
tommie gorman Posted January 23, 2007 CID Share Posted January 23, 2007 As pretty much shown by your U/L part of the speed test problem is your distance from Dallas Texas US. And most will say you cannot tweak a satelite connection. Do you look for updates for your modem, or do they do theirselves? If it is self hosted they say not. If you get the updates yourself, then maybe so.
tricsigns Posted January 23, 2007 Author CID Share Posted January 23, 2007 i have an ipstar modem and as far as i know it takes care of itself well its never asked me about updates honestly i dont know
tommie gorman Posted January 23, 2007 CID Share Posted January 23, 2007 Without being argued with you might try the TCP optimizer. http://www.testmy.net/t-1013 Which leads to the https://www.speedguide.net/ But many say it can not be tweaked. I think it does, but most say not. I also say it definately did not hurt any. Don't forget to back up your current settings on the first page. And set the dial to your advertised speeds. Good luck. Dlewis is the only one here I know of on a MAC. Good luck though.
ghostmaster Posted January 23, 2007 CID Share Posted January 23, 2007 Im if not mistaken, your service is using a "surfbeam" like modem, and in that case, it is NOT self hosted, and you should be albe to tweak it. With that being said, I have no idea how to do it on a MAC.
