Greetings all.  Basically, to make a short story shorter, Im wanting to upgrade my pc.  Im currently at @ 2.0 mhz amd, 2 gigs ram, 300 gh 7200 rpm hd, geforce 6800 gt 256k, with a Nvidia nf4 motherboard. Im currently wanting to keep everything but the Video card, motherboard, and processor.  Im gonna list the 3 items I wanted to purchase and put together to build a beast machine, and here they are

The three components I would like to purchase are

Seem to be a top card, thought putting this in my machine should help the cause

Seems like a solid processor.  Sure be a decent upgrade from what I have now.

Now, the motherboard is where I am unsure of.  Getting the processor and video card are fairly straight forward, but I would love suggestions on a nice board to put them on.

This is a board that I found that I liked.

So there ya have it.  That is what Im wanting to have as the core of my machine.  Any good? Have better ideas? Any constructive advice would be great :)  My brother just got his friends computer (he is a marine now) and he can play games like oblivion max settings and resolution with smooth as butter framerates.  So Im basically trying to one up his parts a bit to make sure I can do the same.  If you guys have a better build for a machine (processor, video card, motherboard only) that could knock my socks off, post your ideas.  Though, I am working with a budget of 1200.  So have at it, and thanks!

if you're building a new computer go with core 2 duo instead of AMD.

also the 8800GTX is the most powerful card out with now and it gets bottlenecked by any processor out right now, but as new games emerge it'll take the full adventage of it. so it's a great choice.

i would get the e6300 or e6700 processor and overclock it.

i would build you something right now but im tired of it.

all my friends ask me to build them stuff and im tired of looking on it for newegg.

here it is:

processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115003

vid card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130072

for mobo i'd take asus 650i or 680i

i have a 4200+ with 8800GTS and it goes through any game i throw at it.

those are all nice parts. but i have one question. on the motherboard you chose, is your ram you already have compatible? the motherboard you chose takes 240 pin DDR2 800.

for cpu and grapihcs card, i wish i had them in my system right now.

core 2 duo's are nice, but i am still an amd person..untill i get my intel parts in later  :evil6:

Thanks again everyone, after looking at budget, and realizing I can eat ramen fora  week, I think I will go ahead and go with

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115003 for the processor

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130072 for the video card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131073 for the mobo

and either http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145034 or

the fire stix for the ram.  Im thinkin that sounds pretty solid, and should run anything I could want to throw at it,  :cheesy:
